From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Watford manager Marco Silva is well aware of the challenge facing his players tonight as they take on runaway league leaders Manchester City at the Etihad.

"It's a tough tough match for us," he told Sky Sports a few moments ago. "They are having an amazing season. We need to compete and do everything possible to take a good result.

"We know they are a fantastic team but we need to believe in ourselves."

It's absolutely lashing it down with rain at the Liberty Stadium, where we remain goalless between Swansea and Spurs after eight minutes. The playing surface is absolutely sopping so we might not see a match of the highest quality.

GOAL ALERT! Swansea 0-1 Spurs (Llorente, 12)

Swansea old boy Fernando Llorente gives Tottenham an early lead as he heads home Christian Eriksen's free-kick from an offside position.

Carlos Carvalhal will be fuming with the linesman there.
