From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. After what seems like a longer than usual international break, the Premier League finally returns this weekend.
Perhaps the pick of the fixtures is Manchester City’s clash with Liverpool, which kicks off at 12.30 on Saturday. Both of the sides are expected to be in title contention come the end of the season and they’ve set the early pace, with two wins and a draw apiece.
Saturday also sees a battle between the two most recent Premier League champions, as Leicester entertain Chelsea at the King Power Stadium. All eyes will be on Danny Drinkwater, who could make his Chelsea debut against his former side.
Everton host Tottenham in another tasty 3pm kick-off with both sides eager to bounce back after picking up just one point over their past two fixtures, while Arsenal will hope to get back to winning ways against struggling Bournemouth.
Meanwhile Brighton will play West Brom and Southampton take on Watford in Saturday’s other 3pm kick-offs, before Manchester United travel to Stoke City hoping to make it four wins out of four.

Chelsea have started far the better side in the battle of the recent champions.
Arsenal 1-0 Bournemouth
Mesut Ozil almost doubles Arsenal's lead with a sumptuous free-kick but Asmir Begovic produces a great save and claws the ball away.
Brighton 0-0 West Brom
Shane Duffy has the ball in the back of the net for Brighton but the goal is ruled out for offside! The Seagulls' fans will have to wait a little longer to see their side score a Premier League goal.
Brighton 0-0 West Brom
Gareth Barry comes close to opening the scoring for West Brom away at Brighton but his drilled effort is deflected over the crossbar by one of his own players.
Leicester 0-0 Chelsea
Chelsea are dominating Leicester and it's surely only a matter of time before they open the scoring. Spanish pass master Cesc Fabregas is pulling the strings in the heart of the champions' midfield.
GOAL! Arsenal 2-0 Bournemouth (Lacazette)
27' - Danny Welbeck profits from a Nathan Ake mistake before laying the ball off to Alexandre Lacazette, who bends the ball past Asmir Begovic to double Arsenal's lead.
GOAL! Everton 0-1 Tottenham (Kane)
28' - Screamer! Harry Kane gives Spurs the lead at Goodison Park with a strike from a ridiculous distance. Did he mean it? You'll probably have to see it to decide for yourself.
Incidentally, that's Kane's 100th goal for Tottenham.
