Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

SUNDERLAND 0 - 0 WEST HAM
Both sides have come out of the traps quickly here, with action at both ends in a matter of minutes.
Lanzini fires a free kick over the wall, but he is denied by Pickford. The Sunderland keeper has been in a rich vein of form lately, but I am sure he will be under the cosh from the start here.
CRYSTAL PALACE 0 - 0 LEICESTER CITY
The home side enter this clash brimming with confidence and unchanged following their victory against Arsenal - which comes of no surprise. The Foxes have started a strong side, despite the second round of the Champions League clash on Tuesday.
SUNDERLAND 0 - 1 WEST HAM
GOAL
The Hammers have taken an early lead at the Stadium of Light and it's Ayew the with the strike. Carroll gets his head to the cross, knocks it down for the 27-year-old, who looks up and buries it from close range. Top start from Slaven Bilic's men.
STOKE CITY 1 - 0 HULL CITY
GOAL
Shaqiri picks out an imposing pass to Arnautovic on the left, who cuts in and buries it into the top corner. No chance for Jakupovic.
CRYSTAL PALACE 0 - 1 LEICESTER CITY
GOAL
Huth has opened the scoring for Leicester, following some lapse defending from Palace. The throw in goes into the box and Huth strides into the area and nods it home.
STOKE CITY 1 - 0 HULL CITY
Shaquiri delivers a tremendous ball over the top to Arnautovic, but the scorer fails to score from a close range volley. He should have doubled his tally there.
STOKE CITY 1 - 0 HULL CITY
Berahino knocks the ball into the net, but he is flagged offside following the ball through from Shawcross.
CRYSTAL PALACE 0 - 1 LEICESTER CITY
Palace are going for the long ball tactic today it appears, with Benteke proving problematic for the Leicester defence. Can he find an equaliser? We'll see.
WATFORD 0 - 0 SWANSEA
The first Watford attempt falls for Niang, but his effort is held comfortably by Fabianski.
