From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Loris Karius has lost his place in Liverpool’s starting line-up ahead of Wednesday’s trip to Middlesbrough.

The under-fire goalkeeper will be replaced by Simon Mignolet after his mistakes costs points against both Bournemouth and West Ham United.

Aitor Karanka’s men are the Premier League’s lowest scorers and will hope to bounce back from Sunday’s defeat at Southampton.

It’s a big game for…

LORIS KARIUS: The German goalkeeper has struggled to keep out of the headlines of late after a number of high profile mistakes and verbal sparring with television pundits. However, here he has the chance to put that business behind him and get Liverpool back to winning ways.

Weird /best stat…

7: Middlesbrough are unbeaten in seven Premier League home matches against Liverpool since a 2-1 defeat in March 2002 (W3, D4).

Remember when…

Liverpool 2 Middlesbrough 2 (14-13 pens) Capital One Cup Third Round 2014

Both teams needed 120 minutes and 28 penalty kicks to separate them but, after Suso dispatched his decisive spot kick for Liverpool, Albert Adomah blazed his effort high and wide to send the Reds through to the fourth round.

Player to watch…

Gaston Ramirez: The Uruguayan is having an impressive season on his return to the Premier League with Boro and could cause a shaky Liverpool defence big problems at the Riverside. His cohesive partnership with Alvaro Negredo gives the home side a real threat going forward.

Past three-meetings…

LIVERPOOL 2 (Rossiter, Fernandez Saez) MIDDLESBROUGH 2 (Reach, Bamford) (14-13 pens), September 2014

MIDDLESBROUGH 2 (Alonso OG, Tuncay Sanli) LIVERPOOL 0, February 2009

LIVERPOOL 2 (Pogatetz OG, Gerrard) MIDDLESBROUGH 1 (Mido), August 2008

Vital information…

KICK-OFF TIME: 7:45

TV: Highlights on BBC One at 10:45

73 mins: GOAL! TOTTENHAM 3 HULL 0:

Three goals and three points for Tottenham at White Hart Lane! Chasing a hat-trick, Christian Eriksen had his free-kick tipped on to the post by David Marshall, but there was goal machine Victor Wanyama to convert the rebound.

78 mins: GOAL! WEST BROM 3 SWANSEA 1:

The very definition of a consolation goal as Wayne Routledge nets for Swansea at the Hawthorns. The winger was on hand to convert from close range after substitute Borja had seen his shot blocked by Ben Foster. It's not worth celebrating and, to be fair, to the Swansea players and supporters, they didn't.

88 mins: GOAL! CRYSTAL PALACE 1 MANCHESTER UNITED 2:

Zlatan Ibrahimovic to the rescue! You just cannot keep the Swede out of the headlines for long! Paul Pogba left Yohan Cabaye on his backside with a sharp turn inside the Crystal Palace half, and then slid a ball behind Scott Dann. Rushing on to, Ibrahimovic kept his cool - naturally - and slid a fine shot beyond Wayne Hennessey from an acute angle on the left. The winner? Surely.

86 mins: GOAL! MANCHESTER CITY 2 WATFORD 0:

David Silva alleviates Manchester City concerns, and Pep Guardiola's men bounce back after the weekend's horrorshow. The Spaniard swept home to seal the points after good work from Raheem Sterling.
