Manchester United will look to keep up their impressive run of form when they entertain Sunderland at Old Trafford after stringing together a run of 11 matches unbeaten, with all eyes on the return of David Moyes at Old Trafford. The Sunderland manager had an ill-fated 10-month spell at United following the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson, and he returns to the club he managed in 2013/14 with a point to prove - as well as a relegation battle on his hands.

It’s a big game for…

David Moyes: Who else? The former Manchester United manager returns to Old Trafford, the scene of his greatest failure, for the first time as a manager since being dismissed by the club two-and-a-half years ago. He remains a divisive figure among United’s support and is not wholly assured of a kind welcome.

Best stat…

5-3: The highest-scoring game between these two sides came on Boxing Day in 1950, with the Black Cats taking all three points from Sir Matt Busby’s side at Old Trafford.

Remember when…

Moyes’ United were dumped out of the League Cup semi-finals on penalties by Sunderland in 2014.

Player to watch…

Paul Pogba: The world’s most-expensive footballer finally seems to be coming into his own, after impressive displays against Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion.

20mins: After a strong start from Palace, Watford have regained some composure into their game. The introduction of Deeney has restored some balance to the Hornets after a poor start to proceedings.

GOAL! Cabaye gives Palace the lead!

Jack de Menezes26 December 2016 12:55

26mins: Palace have looked the more threatening side in the opening period and this time they make it count. Townsend comes off the right flank and slides in Cabaye who makes no mistake slotting past Gomes from close range.

Jack de Menezes26 December 2016 12:57

29mins: The scoreline doesn't lie at Vicarage Road and Palace almost doubled their lead with their next attack. Cabaye is proving to be a menace in the middle of the park and his long range effort had Gomes sprawling across his goal. Luckily for the Watford goalkeeper it went just wide.

Jack de Menezes26 December 2016 12:59

32mins: Watford are enjoying a good spell of possession but are struggling to find any penetration in the final third. Amrabat seems to be their main outlet but Zaha and Kelly are working hard to prevent him down the right flank.

Gomes saves Benteke's dismal penalty!

Jack de Menezes26 December 2016 13:07

38mins: Gomes goes from zero to hero at Vicarage Road. His clumsy challenge on Benteke conceded the penalty but the Brazilian redeemed himself with a clever save to deny the Belgian from the spot. Gomes has now saved 9 out of 30 penalties in the Premier League.

42mins: Gomes' penalty save seems to have rejuvenated the Hornets but their lack of quality in the final third will be a concern for Walter Mazzarri.
