Jose Mourinho’s side have lost their spot at the top of the league after Manchester City’s 6-0 rout of Watford yesterday so will be looking to put in an assertive performance against the Toffees today.
Paul Pogba will be absent from United’s starting XI after injuring his hamstring. Everton, on the other hand, have no new injury concerns for the clash.

What time does it start?
Kick-off is at 4.00pm on Sunday 17 September at Old Trafford.
Where can I watch it?
The game is being broadcast on Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Main Event. Coverage starts at 3.30pm.
It’s a big game for?
Wayne Rooney. The Manchester United legend returns to the club where he made his name after 13 long years of service. The forward has a job to do today but it’s bound to be an emotional affair for him. The Old Trafford crowd should welcome him with open arms on his return, though it’ll be interesting to see how they react should he score.
Player to watch?
Romelu Lukaku. The former Everton striker faces up against his old club, too, but his reception is unlikely to match that of Rooney’s. Everton have shipped six goals in their last two games so the Belgian will be confident he can add to his goalscoring tally today against a side that doesn't look as if its spent around £150m on new players this summer.

Welcome to Old Trafford for live coverage of Manchester United against Everton.
It's a reunion for two classic strikers this afternoon as Romelu Lukaku and Wayne Rooney face their former clubs.
The two teams are out so let's have a recap of how they line up...
Manchester United: De Gea, Valencia, Jones, Bailly, Young, Matic, Fellaini, Mkhitaryan, Mata, Rashford, Lukaku
Subs: Romero, Martial, Smalling, Lingard, Carrick, Herrera, Darmian
Everton: Pickford, Martina, Keane, Williams, Jagielka, Baines, Schneiderlin, Gueye, Davies, Sigurdsson, Rooney
Subs: Stekelenburg, Ramirez, Mirallas, Klaassen, Besic, Calvert-Lewin, Holgate
Referee: Andre Marriner
KICK-OFF: Old Trafford is rocking as Romelu Lukaku gets this latest Manchester United match going against his former club. Another home win would take the Red Devils level at the top with their city rivals, and while that may seem likely considering Everton's recent performances, it is worth remembering that the Toffees are the only club to take points off the current league leaders.
4 mins: GOAL! MANCHESTER UNITED 1 EVERTON 0:
What a strike from Antonio Valencia! United lead inside four minutes thanks to a wonderful goal from the captain at Old Trafford! The hosts worked the ball neatly on the left before Nemanja Matic curled a first-time pass to the right corner of the Everton penalty area. Arriving there was Valencia, taking the ball on as it bounced and firing a superb shot across goal and into the top left corner of Jordan Pickford's net. Brilliant!
7 mins: United small blood and have continued to attack their opponents since the goal. Another of those up against his former club, Marouane Fellaini, nearly bundled his way into the box before the unusual sight of Henrikh Mkhitaryan getting a pass wrong when his teammates were in promising positions.
14 mins: Everton are trying to force their way into the contest but Wayne Rooney already looks an isolated figure on his return to Old Trafford. Too often the ball is being played into his feet with no other attacking options for him to combine with. As it is, Eric Bailly is currently bossing Old Trafford's record goalscorer.
