Arsenal vs Watford match report: Alex Iwobi stars in accomplished performance
Afternoon all and welcome to the Independent’s coverage of today’s Premier League fixtures. We’ll be bringing you minute-by-minute updates of all the goals and news from this afternoon’s matches as title-leaders Leicester City host Southampton and Manchester United entertain Everton at Old Trafford.
Leicester City v Southampton:
Leicester City’s title bid faces its next challenge in the shape of an in-form Southampton. The Foxes have showed no signs of slipping up as of yet and will be looking to go seven points clear today after Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham were held to a 1-1 draw at Anfield. Leicester will also be boosted by the impressive performances enjoyed by Jamie Vardy, Danny Drinkwater and N’Golo Kante during the international break. Vardy’s world-class goal against Germany proved his international credentials while Drinkwater was awarded MOTM in Tuesday night’s match against the Netherlands. As for Kante, the pip-squeaked midfield maestro found the net after only eight minutes during his first full international debut for France. After drawing 2-2 at St Mary’s back in October, the Foxes will be looking to capitalise on their recent form and secure the full three points.

As for the away team, Southampton will be feeling equally optimistic about today’s fixture on the back of their 3-2 victory against Liverpool, despite going 2-0 down after 20 minutes. The Saints left it late with Mane scoring in the dying minutes of the game to gift Southampton the three points and, in doing so, keep their hopes of European football alive. If the reverse fixture is anything to go by, we should be in for an exciting encounter today down at the King Power Stadium.
Team news: No changes for Leicester while Southampton have made four changes, bringing in Soares for Martina, Wanyama for Romeu, Mane for Tadic and Targett for Long. Saints fans will also be delighted to say Rodriguez back on the back after a four-month absence.

In other news, it seems Leicester City will be handing out a free doughnut and a pint for each home fan to celebrate the Chairman’s birthday. Although it’s unlikely the players will be able to get their hands on the freebies before kick-off, it’s this sort of spirit which has defined the club throughout the season. Respect.

Ronald Koeman has his say: "I think everybody has their ambition. With Leicester it's a title game today, for us it's our ambition to play in Europe so we also need a win today."He also admitted that it was "tough" team to pick. Although Shane Long is out due to injury, Koeman said that "we have 24 players all who are fit and available." The inclusion of 18-year-old Matt Targett will raise a few eyebrows but Koeman said that he is a "young talent player" who needs his "chances to play".
Speaking about Leicester, the Saints manager said that "they are strong and full of confidence but Southampton is a tough team to beat and we need to be at our best today."
