Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Kevin De Bruyne is a better all-round footballer than Mohamed Salah and could play for any club in the world, according to Brighton boss Chris Hughton. “For me, De Bruyne’s the more complete player and I think it's taken an exceptional season from Salah to win the awards ahead of De Bruyne,” said Hughton.

De Bruyne has been instrumental in Manchester City’s impressive Premier League title success but was beaten to both the PFA Players' Player of the Year and FWA Footballer of the Year awards by Liverpool's prolific top scorer Salah.

Albion face the in-form duo in a daunting end to the season, with Wednesday's visit to the Etihad Stadium followed by a trip to Anfield on Sunday.

And, while Hughton has great admiration for both men, he thinks Belgium international De Bruyne just has the edge. Follow live coverage of the match below.

0-0 at Wembley. Jonjo Shelvey rattled the post with a free-kick for the visitors, and Spurs fans will be worried with their sides vulnerabilities at the back. Could they really miss out on Champions League football? Improvements needed in the second half for the hosts.

It is also time for oranges at the Etihad Stadium with Manchester City leading 2-1. Danilo opened the scoring but Leonardo Ulloa replied soon after. Bernardo Silva took City's second well, in the process breaking the single-season team goals record. A vocal Etihad crowd is urging Yaya Toure to shoot at every opportunity - will the Ivorian notch one final home City goal in the second half?

50 min: HUDDERSFIELD LEAD! Moments after Antonio Rudiger missed another good chance for Chelsea Laurent Depoitre opens the scoring for the visitors. Aaron Mooy is the architect, playing a long ball through to the Belgian centre-forward, who reacts well after his initial effort is repelled and he finishes past Willy Caballero. It is Depoitre's first goal this calendar year, and as it stands Huddersfield are comfortably safe.
