It’s a big game for…
Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian has scored in every game bar one that he has played at club and international level this season. After the defining move of his career, one to a club with the stature of Manchester United too, he has seamlessly acclimatised to his new surroundings. But doubts linger over his ability to perform against the biggest opponents, with critics accusing him of being a ‘flat track bully’. Saturday afternoon in the cauldron of Anfield – against United’s old rivals Liverpool – would be the perfect time to prove his calibre.
Player to watch…
Ander Herrera. The Spaniard was one of the vital cogs in United’s midfield last season but with the arrival of Nemanja Matic has found playing time increasingly hard to come by. Injuries to Pogba and Fellaini mean he is in line to make just his second league start of the season. Will he be fresh and raring to go, or feeling a bit rusty?

2' - Antonio Valencia wins United an early corner as his cross from the right wing is deflected behind by a Liverpool defender.
The corner is cleared and Matteo Darmian tries his luck from distance but his shot is a poor one and Simon Mignolet collects the ball for a goal-kick.
5' - Philippe Coutinho wins the first free-kick of the match as he is brought down by Ander Herrera after a smart piece of skill by the Liverpool playmaker just inside the United half.
7' - United attack down the right but Ashley Young's low cross in towards Romelu Lukaku is blocked by Dejan Lovren.
Liverpool break down the other end and Roberto Firmino's centre is meekly turned into the arms of the grateful David de Gea by Gini Wijnaldum.
10' - Joel Matip is afforded a decent amount of space by United's midfielders and charges into it. He lets fly with a shot from distance but the ball flies well over David de Gea's crossbar.
It's been a frantic opening 10 minutes at Anfield. Nothing to split the two teams as of yet, though.
14' - Mo Salah beats a couple of United players with a smart turn before offloading the ball to Gini Wijnaldum, whose left-footed shot from just outside the penalty area lands safely in David de Gea's arms.
16' - Joe Gomez makes a good run down the right wing and he's picked out just inside the United penalty area by Roberto Firmino. However, Anthony Martial gets back just in time to block the young full-back's shot. Disciplined defending from United's No11.
