Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. Two old Bundesliga rivals, Jürgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola, renew acquaintances at Anfield on New Year's Eve when Liverpool take on Manchester City.
The manager meet each other for the first time in English football, having met on eight separate occasions while in charge of Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich respectively.
They each have four wins and four defeats from their encounters with each other, but who will emerge victorious on Merseyside and strike a potentially serious blow in this season's title race?

It’s a big game for…
Raheem Sterling. Since moving from Liverpool to Manchester City, the 22-year-old has played his former employers twice, a 3-0 thrashing upon his return to Anfield and a 4-1 drubbing at the Etihad. The winger will be desperate to silence the Liverpool fans.
Best stat…
15: Liverpool have gone 15 games unbeaten at Anfield against City, with the Citizens’ last win coming back in the 2002/03 season when Nicolas Anelka scored a last minute winner.
Remember when...
Phillipe Coutinho put Liverpool back in front against City in the 2013/14 season when they were mightily close to winning the league.
Player to watch…
Adam Lallana. The attacking midfielder has been in dazzling form for the Reds. It seems as if anything that Liverpool will create will come through Lallana, especially with the absence of Coutinho. The 28-year-old has scored three goals and set up one in his last three games.
Past three meetings…
Liverpool 3 (Lallana, Milner, Firmino) Manchester City 0, Premier League, March 2016

Chelsea in control, Swansea in trouble, United frustrated
Half-time in all the Premier League games and we've had goals at the top and bottom. Chelsea are heading nine points clear as it stands thanks to Cahill's header, Leicester are beating West Ham and Bournemouth and steaming past Swansea. Burnley lead Sunderland, Southampton are level with West Brom and, at Old Trafford, United are being held by Middlesbrough.
United might be drawing a blank against Middlesbrough but they feel they should be ahead. Zlatan Ibrahimovic had the ball in the net, poking past Victor Valdes, but he was penalised for a high foot. Mourinho might have something to say about that if United don't win this game.
