From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

It’s a big game for…
Mohamed Salah. The winger faces his former club with a point to prove. Having been given little chance to prove himself at Stamford Bridge, Salah is now flying at Liverpool with 14 goals to his name in all competitions this season – he barely managed 14 appearances at Chelsea. Liverpool will be hoping the speedy Egyptian can make all the difference for them come Saturday evening.
Player to watch…
Alvaro Morata. The Spaniard has had a hand in 12 goals in his first 11 Premier League games for Chelsea (eight goals, four assists) and looks to be getting better and better with each passing week. Against a Liverpool defence not exactly known for, well, defending, Morata will certainly fancy his chances – especially having seen the way in which Sevilla cut open the Reds’ backline on Tuesday night.

The players are coming out of the tunnel, 'You'll never Walk Alone' is blaring around the Kop and the scene is set. This has the feeling of a huge game. Stay tuned for live updates.
3: Both teams have started well with Liverpool attempting to press high up the pitch. Neat feet from Eden Hazard takes the visitors up the pitch and he wins a corner which he takes but Liverpool clear.
5: James Milner rolls a pass to Daniel Sturridge who could have let the ball run across his body and be in on goal but he takes a touch into traffic allowing Chelsea to dispossess him.
9: Liverpool are out of the blocks the quicker side and are enjoying long spells of possession which limits how far forward Marcos Alonso and Davide Zappacosta can go leaving Alvaro Morata and Eden Hazard isolated.
