From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Both Leicester City and West Ham United will be looking to avoid a third consecutive league defeat when they face each other for the late Saturday kick-off.

Leicester City have suffered back-to-back defeats to Everton and Arsenal while West Ham were defeated 1-0 by both Brighton and Tottenham in their last two matches.

These latest results have put Manuel Pellegrini’s side in desperate need of a win after slumping to 14th, two points off the relegation zone and five points behind Claude Puel’s side three places above them. Follow it live:

It’s a big game for…

Felipe Anderson – After a bright start to the season, it was another tough afternoon for the Brazilian against Tottenham. He was profligate in possession and the quality of his set pieces left a lot to be desired. He also failed defensively, not doing enough to stop Moussa Sissoko for Lamela’s opener, and it was no surprise he was taken off ten minutes into the second half. Manuel Pellegrini will need a much better performance from the club’s record signing this time around.

Weird stat…

Six: West Ham have lost six points from winning positions this season, more than any other Premier League side.

Remember when…

There were very few matchday disappointments in Leicester’s title-winning season, but their home game against West Ham would probably rank among their highest. After Jamie Vardy had opened the scoring, two goals in three minutes from West Ham left Leicester staring at a potential loss. Leonardo Ulloa’s penalty saw them avoid defeat, but Aaron Creswell’s sumptuous finish to put West Ham into the lead was a piece of elegance during a fiery encounter.

Player to watch…

Ben Chilwell – The left-back delivered yet another solid performance against Arsenal, particularly in the first half. He caused Hector Bellerin a great deal of trouble, the result of which led to the England international’s involvement in the Spaniard’s own goal. If he keeps performing like this he will hold down England’s left-back position for years to come.

Past three-meetings…

Leicester City 0 West Ham 2 (Joao Mario, Noble), Premier League, May 2018

West Ham 1 (Kouyate) Leicester City 1 (Albrighton), Premier League, November 2017

West Ham United 2 (Lanzini, A. Ayew) Leicester City 3 (Mahrez, Huth, Vardy), Premier League, March 2017

Leicester 0-1 West Ham

50 minutes

Chilwell again causes problems on the left, cutting a ball back across goal. There's no one on the end of it, though.

Leicester 0-1 West Ham

53 minutes

Ndidi finds space in a central position outside the box and fires a shot on goal. It's wayward, though, and goes out harmlessly for a goal kick.

Callum Rice-Coates27 October 2018 18:41

Leicester 0-1 West Ham

55 minutes

Chance for Vardy. Albrighton picks him out in the box but he can only guide his header wide. His presence is already causing problems.

Leicester 0-1 West Ham

57 minutes

Maddison goes down in the box and appeals for a penalty. Michael Oliver says no. Then Iheanacho claims handball after seeing a shot blocked. Michael Oliver says no.

Leicester 0-1 West Ham

61 minutes

West Ham will be pleased with how the second half has gone so far. They have, inevitably, retreated into a compact defensive shape and dropped deeper. But Leicester haven't created any huge chances, and they're still struggling to find a way through.

Leicester 0-1 West Ham

62 minutes

Fabianski is forced into action to twice deny Albrighton. Good goalkeeping.

Callum Rice-Coates27 October 2018 18:51

Leicester 0-1 West Ham

63 minutes

Perhaps Leicester's best chance. Albrighton picks out Vardy again but, yards out, he heads over the bar.

Callum Rice-Coates27 October 2018 18:52

Leicester 0-1 West Ham

65 minutes

A speculative effort from Maddison. He manoeuvres the ball onto his left foot but drills it over and wide. Moments later, Chilwell bursts forward and pulls the ball back. Demarai Gray, who has replaced Iheanacho, can only drag wide.

Callum Rice-Coates27 October 2018 18:55

Leicester 0-1 West Ham

67 minutes

Leicester are peppering West Ham's goal now. Maguire comes close from a corner, looping a header onto the bar. An equaliser continues to evade them.

Callum Rice-Coates27 October 2018 18:56

Leicester 0-1 West Ham

71 minutes

The pressure is almost constant now. West Ham are having to work hard and defend well to keep Leicester at bay. They get a welcome breather, though, as Maguire fouls Zabaleta.
