From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Both Leicester City and West Ham United will be looking to avoid a third consecutive league defeat when they face each other for the late Saturday kick-off.

Leicester City have suffered back-to-back defeats to Everton and Arsenal while West Ham were defeated 1-0 by both Brighton and Tottenham in their last two matches.

These latest results have put Manuel Pellegrini’s side in desperate need of a win after slumping to 14th, two points off the relegation zone and five points behind Claude Puel’s side three places above them. Follow it live:

It’s a big game for…

Felipe Anderson – After a bright start to the season, it was another tough afternoon for the Brazilian against Tottenham. He was profligate in possession and the quality of his set pieces left a lot to be desired. He also failed defensively, not doing enough to stop Moussa Sissoko for Lamela’s opener, and it was no surprise he was taken off ten minutes into the second half. Manuel Pellegrini will need a much better performance from the club’s record signing this time around.

Weird stat…

Six: West Ham have lost six points from winning positions this season, more than any other Premier League side.

Remember when…

There were very few matchday disappointments in Leicester’s title-winning season, but their home game against West Ham would probably rank among their highest. After Jamie Vardy had opened the scoring, two goals in three minutes from West Ham left Leicester staring at a potential loss. Leonardo Ulloa’s penalty saw them avoid defeat, but Aaron Creswell’s sumptuous finish to put West Ham into the lead was a piece of elegance during a fiery encounter.

Player to watch…

Ben Chilwell – The left-back delivered yet another solid performance against Arsenal, particularly in the first half. He caused Hector Bellerin a great deal of trouble, the result of which led to the England international’s involvement in the Spaniard’s own goal. If he keeps performing like this he will hold down England’s left-back position for years to come.

Past three-meetings…

Leicester City 0 West Ham 2 (Joao Mario, Noble), Premier League, May 2018

West Ham 1 (Kouyate) Leicester City 1 (Albrighton), Premier League, November 2017

West Ham United 2 (Lanzini, A. Ayew) Leicester City 3 (Mahrez, Huth, Vardy), Premier League, March 2017

A first West Ham attack. Zabaleta gets forward and pulls the ball back. The ball breaks to Anderson, whose shot is straight at Schmeichel.

Leicester 0-0 West Ham

17 minutes

West Ham are gradually coming into the game after a slow start. Leicester had the better of the game in the early stages, but it's now the visitors enjoying some extended spells of possession in the opposition half.

Callum Rice-Coates27 October 2018 17:49

Leicester 0-0 West Ham

21 minutes

Snodgrass drags a shot wide of the far post on his right foot as West Ham continue to probe. They're the side looking the most likely at the moment.

Callum Rice-Coates27 October 2018 17:53

Leicester 0-0 West Ham

24 minutes

More nervousness in the Leicester box. Some chaotic defending allows Snodgrass to sneak in, but again he drags wide. Probably West Ham's best chance so far.

Leicester 0-0 West Ham

28 minutes

Caglar Soyuncu, making his Leicester debut alongside Harry Maguire tonight, has looked nervous. It's understandable, but the 22-year-old will need to find his feet quickly. West Ham have looked dangerous when going forward.

GOAL! Leicester 0-1 West Ham (Balbuena)

30 minutes

West Ham, deservedly, lead through Balbuena. A free kick is headed across goal by Rice, and falls perfectly for Balbuena. His first effort hits the post, but he converts the rebound.

Leicester 0-1 West Ham

33 minutes

Leicester attempt to respond quickly. Maddison tries a long range effort but it's high and wide.

Leicester 0-1 West Ham

36 minutes

The goal has forced Leicester to respond with some urgency, but there's still a lack of quality and composure from the home side. The fans, you sense, are growing increasingly frustrated.

MARK NOBLE SENT OFF!

39 minutes

Michael Oliver doesn't hesitate. Noble dives into a challenge and plants his studs into Ndidi's leg. West Ham had been in control, but now they're down to ten.
