Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Manchester City earlier swept past fellow English Premier League team Burnley 5-0 in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday, extending their run of wins to eight in all competitions. In that streak, the team has 33 goals and has not conceded a goal in the last six games — a first under Guardiola.

Wolverhampton Wanderers avoided becoming the latest Premier League casualty only by scoring in the third minute of injury time to salvage a 2-2 draw at third-tier Shrewsbury.

Wolves, who knocked out Liverpool in the third round, rested key players for the game despite not being in genuine danger of relegation in its first season back in the Premier League.

In an all-Premier League matchup, Watford won 2-0 at Newcastle, which hasn't progressed beyond the fourth round since 2006. Brighton was taken to a replay by second-tier West Bromwich Albion after a 0-0 draw.

And after Everton were stunned by Millwall, West Ham were knocked out by AFC Wimbledon. Re-live the action:

56 min: Wimbledon 3-0 West Ham

West Ham have had to do something and the hosts are happy to contain against their top-flight opposition.

Javier Hernandez encapsulates the Hammers' day, blazing well over after good work from Antonio.

GOAL! Wimbledon 3-1 West Ham (Perez 58')

Well, there's one back and it is a Lucas Perez hammer from inside the area, after Ramsdale had saved the initial effort from Antonio.

63 min: Wimbledon 3-1 West Ham

Wimbledon have responded well to Perez's goal but the Hammers know they need more and they are throwing numbers forward.

Just under half an hour of this scintillating clash to go, as Antonio flashes an effort wide with his left foot.

Yellow card for Ryan Fredericks for a challenge on Appiah.

GOAL! Wimbledon 3-2 West Ham (Felipe Anderson 72')

Wonderful free-kick from Anderson, who gives the goalkeeper the eyes before curling the effort past the keeper at the near post.

Game. Well. And. Truly. On.

76 min: Wimbledon 3-2 West Ham

Change for the hosts, with goalscorer Appiah replaced by Jake Jervis.

Penalty? No! Masuaku is booked for a dive in the Wimbledon penalty area.

84 min: Wimbledon 3-2 West Ham

Just over five minutes to go for West Ham to rescue this in a breaktaking encounter.

Chances are not free flowing though, with Will Nightingale and Mark Noble blazing over efforts at either end.

86 min: Wimbledon 3-2 West Ham

Change for the hosts, with Dylan Connolly being replaced by Toby Sibbick.

GOAL! Wimbledon 4-2 West Ham (Sibbick 88')

That is surely the game and a famous victory for Wimbledon. Anthony Wordsworth swings in a cross to the back post and the substitute seems to have taken the Hammers' hopes of a replay away in some style.
