Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Manchester City earlier swept past fellow English Premier League team Burnley 5-0 in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday, extending their run of wins to eight in all competitions. In that streak, the team has 33 goals and has not conceded a goal in the last six games — a first under Guardiola.

Wolverhampton Wanderers avoided becoming the latest Premier League casualty only by scoring in the third minute of injury time to salvage a 2-2 draw at third-tier Shrewsbury.

Wolves, who knocked out Liverpool in the third round, rested key players for the game despite not being in genuine danger of relegation in its first season back in the Premier League.

In an all-Premier League matchup, Watford won 2-0 at Newcastle, which hasn't progressed beyond the fourth round since 2006. Brighton was taken to a replay by second-tier West Bromwich Albion after a 0-0 draw.

And after Everton were stunned by Millwall, West Ham were knocked out by AFC Wimbledon. Re-live the action:

5 min: Wimbledon 0-0 West Ham

Decent start from the visitors, with Robert Snodgrass sending a dangerous corner into the box. Nothing doing though.

8 min: Wimbledon 0-0 West Ham

Good use of width from Wimbledon and they are causing their Premier League visitors problems.

That pressure should result in an opening goal for the hosts, but Terell Thomas fires wide after a juggling act. He had more space than he realised.

12 min: Wimbledon 0-0 West Ham

Good save from Adrian, and it needed to be. Mitchell Pinnock fires a fierce free-kick from the right and the keeper beats it away.

The Hammers under pressure at the moment.

15 min: Wimbledon 0-0 West Ham

It's the post from Hernandez! He is played through but toe pokes the ball on to the post.

An entertaining opening 15 minutes here at Kingsmeadow.

19 min: Wimbledon 0-0 West Ham

Pinnock has taken up some good positions so far, and after firing a shot over he appeals for a penalty for handball, but nothing is given.

That is before Hernandez spurns another chance from Carroll's knockdown.

I wonder if Hernandez has picked out the right boots today.

Snodgrass again feeds the Mexican the ball but it is another scuffed effort.

28 min: Wimbledon 0-0 West Ham

The hosts are relentless here and it's naother chance, but Adrian is on hand again to deny Pinnock from Connolly's cross.

Not great from the Hammers so far.

34 min: Wimbledon 0-0 West Ham

Andy Carroll is cutting a frustrated figure right now, with little service or support around him. It forces Pedro Obiang to have a go from distance, but it is wild.

GOAL! Wimbledon 1-0 West Ham (Appiah 34')

It has been coming and as Peter Drury says, it has arrived and it is happening.

Kwesi Appiah receives the ball and his shot is deflected beyond Adrian at full stretch via Angelo Ogbonna
