Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

It is a repeat of last season's FA Cup final at Selhurst Park, as Crystal Palace entertain Manchester United. This time, Alan Pardew will hopefully keep his dance moves to himself.

He may struggled to contain himself, however, if his side manage their first league win over United in 25 years on Wednesday. Jose Mourinho, meanwhile, will hope to build on Sunday's big win over Tottenham Hotspur.

It’s a big game for…

Paul Pogba: United’s world record signing had arguably his best performance for the club against Tottenham at Old Trafford and could’ve had a hat-trick if it weren’t for Hugo Lloris and a slice of bad luck. The Frenchman will be the Red Devils main creative threat without the injured Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Weird /best stat…

25: Palace haven’t beaten United at Selhurst Park in a league game in 25 years ago, their last success was a 3-0 win coming in May 1991.

Remember when…

Crystal Palace 1 Manchester United 2 (AET) FA Cup final, May 2016

Jesse Lingard provided Palace with some more cup final heartache with a sumptuous volley deep in extra time to secure United their first FA cup triumph in 12 years.

Player to watch…

Wilfried Zaha: Although Palace are in a rut, with two goals in his last three games, Zaha certainly is not. The rapid winger scored one of the goals of the season against Hull on Saturday and looks as if he is finally starting to live up to his potential. The Eagles winger to be a massive threat on the flank against his old club.

Past three-meetings…

CRYSTAL PALACE 1 (Puncheon) MANCHESTER UNITED 2 (Mata, Lingard) FA Cup final, May 2016

MANCHESTER UNITED 2 (Delaney OG, Darmian) CRYSTAL PALACE 0, April 2016

CRYSTAL PALACE 0 MANCHESTER UNITED 0, October 2015

A man for the big occasion?

Sam Dymond14 December 2016 19:19

Wayne Rooney starts for Manchester United at Crystal Palace this evening.

He needs one goal to equal Bobby Charlton's club record and the great man is in attendance at Selhurst Park to see if he can manage it.
