From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

What time does it start?
Crystal Palace vs Hull City kicks off at 12pm on Sunday 14th May.
Where can I watch it?
The match will be televised live on Sky Sports 1, with coverage starting at 11am.
It’s a big game for…
Wilfried Zaha. He has recaptured the form which convinced Sir Alex Ferguson to sign him for Manchester United in 2013 and Crystal Palace will need him to perform if they are to escape relegation. He has got 6 goals and 9 assists this season, and is a creative threat out wide with his trickery and power. If he can get involved in the game and provide good service to frontman Christian Benteke, they will punish Hull.
Best stat…
8 of the last 17 meetings between these two sides have ended in a draw.
Remember when…
Crystal Palace came out 4-2 victors over Hull in a Championship game in March 2013. Some familiar names got on the scoresheet, with Kevin Phillips (3) and Zaha scoring Palace’s goals, while Hull’s were scored by Jay Simpson and David Meyler.
Player to watch...
Harry Maguire. The centre-half has performed admirably all season and will be central to keeping out all of the home side’s attacking talents. His strength, composure and ability on the ball have meant he is attracting attention ahead of the summer window from the likes of Tottenham and Everton. If Hull have any chance of keeping him they will need to remain in the Premier League, and this match will be vital in that quest.
Past three meetings…
Hull City 3-3 Crystal Palace, Premier League, December 2016
Crystal Palace 0-2 Hull City, Premier League, April 2015
Hull City 2-0 Crystal Palace, Premier League, October 2014
Form guide…

Hull City: LLWDL
Odds…
Crystal Palace: 21/20
Hull City: 27/10
Draw: 51/20
Good morning and welcome to The Independent's live coverage of Hull's trip to Selhurst Park. Palace only need a draw to secure their safety, but they have failed to find form lately with three defeats on the bounce. Its simple for Hull, if they loose, then they go down.
Stay tuned for all of the build up, team news and minute-by-minute coverage of the action.
By the time Hull City kick off at Crystal Palace at 12:00, they will know what they need to do. It even piles it on Palace, who should be safe and have felt safe for weeks now, only to relapse, their relegation battle DNA simply too dominant to overcome.
Mamadou Sakho may well have played his final game for Crystal Palace with Sam Allardyce revealing it is unlikely the on-loan Liverpool defender will play again this season.
Hull need a result today or they will suffer the harsh consequences of relegation, but their record against Palace is far from encouraging. The Tigers won 2-0 at Selhurst Park in April 2015, but their is only victory away to Palace in 32 years. However, this will certainly be the most important of the bunch.
Marco Silva's men enter this clash armed with the worst away record in the league, but they will need to put this horrific record behind them and focus on securing their position in the top flight. However, Palace have failed to score in their last three league games - so they might just be in with a chance.
The Tigers record away from home
-They have not won away since their 2-0 victory against Swansea in August, 2015.
- Scored the fewest goals and conceded the most.
- Worst away record in the league.
- Not won in the last 17 away from home.
