From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

What time does it start?
The game kicks off at 12.30pm on Saturday 21 October at Stamford Bridge.
Where can I watch it?
The game will be broadcast on Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Main Event. Coverage starts at 11.30am.
It’s a big game for?
Antonio Conte. It says all you need to know about the state of the modern game but the pressure is on for the Italian – especially with Roman Roman Abramovich as your boss. Chelsea have not won in three and are showing signs of a pre-Christmas wobble. The Blues have their hands full against a high-flying Watford team and only a win will be enough to restore some calm and order to the Bridge.
Player to watch?
Eden Hazard. The Belgian failed to impress against Crystal Palace last week but was the hero in blue on Wednesday night as he salvaged his side a precious point at home against Roma. Fans will have their fingers crossed that the right Hazard turns up and, if he does, Watford should be in for a difficult time.

GOAL! Chelsea 2-2 Watford (Batshuayi)
71' - Chelsea equalise and it's Michy Batshuayi with a lovely header from Pedro's inviting cross!
73' - Tiemoue Bakayoko concedes a free-kick in a dangerous position and Tom Cleverley takes it. His cross is good but Christian Kabasele's header lacks conviction and Thibaut Courtois collects the ball with ease.
79' - There's been very little to report on in terms of genuine goalscoring chances since Michy Batshuayi's leveller. You definitely get the feeling that there are more goals in this game though.
80' - A defensive change for Watford as Ben Watson replaces skipper Troy Deeney. It looks like Marco Silva might be happy with a point.
82' - Chance! Chelsea load the box for a Cesc Fabregas free-kick but the Spaniard opts for a simple, low pass in to Michy Batshuayi's feet instead. The Belgian turns with the ball before letting a shot off which goes just over Heurelho Gomes' crossbar.
86' - Davide Zappacosta replaces Pedro and almost instantly provides the cross for a Chelsea winner but Michy Batshuayi can't quite get on the end of the Italian's cross.
GOAL! Chelsea 3-2 Watford (Azpilicueta)
87' - Surely that's the winner! Willian's cross is turned in at the far post by Cesar Azpilicueta!
