Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Champions League finalists Liverpool turn their attentions to domestic matters this afternoon as they travel to Chelsea in an attempt to secure their place in Europe’s top competition for another season.

A win for Chelsea will see them draw level on points with the Reds going into the final two games of the season, and they will back themselves to hunt Jurgen Klopp’s side down with their not-so-little distraction in the form of Real Madrid in Kiev.

Mohamed Salah is gunning for a record goal tally in a Premier League season having already scored 31, but is Chelsea’s defence up to the challenge?

Arsenal 0-0 Burnley

3: Arsenal have started on the front foot with Jack Wilshere looking very lively. Alexandre Lacazette makes use of Alex Iwobi's weaving run in the box and receives the ball in the crowded penalty area. He tries to turn but Burnley get bodies in the way and clear the danger.

Could he be the man to replace Arsene Wenger

Arsenal 0-0 Burnley

8: Alexandre Lacazette and Henrikh Mkhitaryan combine on the edge of the area to set up a shooting chance for Alex Iwobi, he doesn't connect with his effort and hits a tame effort at goal.

Chelsea 0-0 Liverpool

10: How's he got away with that?

Eden Hazard wriggles his way through a couple of challenges then is clattered by James Milner who slides in late on the Chelsea player. The referee, Anthony Taylor, has a word with the Liverpool midfielder and doesn't show a yellow card, much to the surprise of everyone in Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal 1-0 Burnley

Pierre-Emerick Aubemeyang scores!

Arsene Wenger celebrates with his trademark low fist-pump.

Alexandre Lacazette sneaks into the box and receives Alex Iwobi's pass that takes him to the byline. From a tight angle, he fires a low cross into the middle and Aubemeyang times his run well to tap into an empty net.

Chelsea 0-0 Liverpool

18: What a tackle!

Liverpool steal the ball with Chelsea committing players high up the pitch. Sadio Mane crosses the halfway line and is running at Gary Cahill, but to the defence's rescue is N'Golo Kante who makes a great sliding recovery tackle to win back possession.

Arsenal 1-0 Burnley

19: Concern at the Emirates as Granit Xhaka and Ashley Barnes are both flat on the ground after challenging for a loose pass. The Arsenal man appears to be holding his shoulder while Barnes may have taken a knock to his head.

Arsenal 1-0 Burnley

There's more than one Emirate farewell taking place today, well kind of. Per Mertesacker is playing his last game, well on the bench, he is to hang up his boots and become a coach next season.
