Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Life at Stamford Bridge has started very promisingly for Maurizio Sarri, who has guided Chelsea to three wins in their opening Premier League matches.

Chelsea, however, will not be taking Bournemouth lightly, having lost to them twice at home in their last three league meetings in west London.

Eddie Howe could hand Jefferson Lerma his Premier League debut and will welcome back Adam Smith, who returns from suspension, as they look to maintain their unbeaten start.

We'll have all the latest from Stamford Bridge and around the Premier League:

SECOND HALF KICK OFF

Nathan Jacobs1 September 2018 18:33

City start well and David Silva threads a ball through to Raheem Sterling whose dink into the box is well dealt with once again.

Nathan Jacobs1 September 2018 18:34

49 mins: Silva wastes a free-kick and it's even worse from Mahrez who blazes it over the bar.

Nathan Jacobs1 September 2018 18:37

52 mins: GOAL! Manchester City 2-1 Newcastle (Walker, 53)

City keep possession very well and Aguero feeds the ball into Walker who lets fly from 30 yards and absolutely smashes it into the bottom corner.

What a goal that is.

Wow.

Nathan Jacobs1 September 2018 18:41

53 mins: Sub for Newcastle.

Kenedy off for Atsu.

Nathan Jacobs1 September 2018 18:41

55 mins: Half chance for Newcastle as the ball falls to Dummett on the edge of the box but his left footed shot goes harmlessly wide.

57 mins: GOAL DISALLOWED!

Aguero over heads the ball into the path of Gabriel Jesus who slots the ball away but it has been given as offside.

And moments later, he is replaced by Bernardo Silva.

He's not a happy man.

Nathan Jacobs1 September 2018 18:45

Replays of Walker's goal just show how fantastic of a strike that really was. Perfection.

He's done it a couple of times before but it really is quite the strike.

64 mins: CHANCE!

City play some marvellous football and Bernardo switches a fantastic ball to Aguero who repays the favour with a fantastic dink to Fernandinho who is well stopped by Dubravka.

David Silva follows it up and is denied not once but twice and City get the ball back once again.

Should be 3-1. Great goalkeeping.

66 mins: CHANCE!

Mahrez swings in a great ball into the far post where David Silva is lurking. His header back across goal just doesn't have enough on it and it bounces wide of the goal and into safety.
