From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Chelsea, the Premier League's leaders and title favourites, will look to extend their lead at the top of the table to eight points with victory over a resurgent Hull City. Marco Silva has restored faith in Humberside, but they will need much more than that to take something against Antonio Conte's relentless juggernaut.

Just 12 seconds into the game, Costa goes for goal with a volley from the edge of the box. It goes just wide, but as they say - start as you mean to go on.

Chelsea are aiming to assert an only dominance over their opponents, but Hull look energetic and up for the clash. The home side will be aiming to exploit their opponents on the counter attack, so Marco Silva's men will have to be incredibly careful.

Moses delivers a low ball into the box, but its dealt with by the Hull defence. The visitors have never beaten Chelsea on Stamford Bridge turf, so could today be the day? We'll see.

8 MINS

Huddlestone goes for goal from outside of the box, but it fails to test Courtois. He's a player with such a natural ability to strike the ball from distance, so Chelsea will have to be aware of this or he will punish them.

10 MINS

Hull charge forward, but the attack is shut down quickly by a sea of blue shirts. Moses dispossess them and redeems possession for the home side. He's been in tremendous form of late and has really asserted himself as a key part Chelsea's starting side.

Cahill clashes heads with Mason inside of the penalty area following a Chelsea corner kick. Both medical teams rush onto the pitch.
