West Ham: A look back at 2018

Your support helps us to tell the story

My recent work focusing on Latino voters in Arizona has shown me how crucial independent journalism is in giving voice to underrepresented communities.

Your support is what allows us to tell these stories, bringing attention to the issues that are often overlooked. Without your contributions, these voices might not be heard.

Every dollar you give helps us continue to shine a light on these critical issues in the run up to the election and beyond

Bournemouth can go within a point of opponents West Ham with a win on the south coast.

The Cherries succumbed to a 2-0 loss at Everton last week, and are without a win since mid-December; they sit 12th on 27 points.

West Ham come into this game off the back of an excellent performance and result against Arsenal, but the positive mood has been overshadowed by the lack of clarity surrounding Marko Arnautovic’s future, who is being heavily linked with a move to China. Follow the live action below.

What time does it start?

Bournemouth vs West Ham kicks off at 3:00pm (GMT) on Saturday 19 January.

Where can I watch it?

The match will not be shown live on TV or online in the UK.

Independent Sport will keep you up to date with all the goals as they fly in via our live blog.

Highlights will be shown at 10:20pm on BBC One.

Player to watch…

Felipe Anderson: Slowly but surely, West Ham’s record signing is finding his feet in the Premier League. The 25-year-old is the club’s top scorer with eight goals, and his finishing has been exquisite. If Arnautovic is to leave this month, Anderson’s role in the Hammers’ attack will grow in importance.

Watford 0-0 Burnley, 4 minutes

All the action is at Vicarage Road in these early stages, and James Tarkowski is forced to clear of the line!

Troy Deeney is again the architect, finding Ken Sema who's shot is just about turned away by Tarkowski.

Liverpool 0-0 Crystal Palace, 8 minutes

First opening at Anfield, and the returning Joel Matip forces Julian Speroni into a save after James Milner's cross. The experienced Argentinian stopper is equal to the effort.

Newcastle 0-0 Cardiff, 13 minutes

Ayoze Perez forces Neil Etheridge into a diving save from a Newcastle corner. Good stuff from the Cardiff keeper.

Manchester United 0-0 Brighton, 13 minutes

A quiet start at Old Trafford.

Shane Duffy drifts in at the far post but heads straight at David De Gea, who catches with relative comfort.

A similarly touching tribute to Sir Matt Busby at Old Trafford 25 years on from his passing.

Southampton 0-0 Everton, 15 minutes

Top stop from Jordan Pickford!

He does superbly to get down to his left as Danny Ings flicks a header towards goal.

And continuing the theme of great tributes, Watford and Graham Taylor. A day tinged with sadness at a number of Premier League grounds...

Newcastle 0-0 Cardiff, 19 minutes

Ayoze Perez crosses but can't beat Joe Bennett. It appears the ball may have struck the Cardiff defender's arm, but Stuart Attwell is unmoved despite the hosts' protests.

Bournemouth 0-0 West Ham, 21 minutes

Bournemouth have the ball in the net, but it is offside!

Ryan Fraser's cross is a good one and Nathan Ake finds the goal with his header, but the linesman's flag is up and it will not stand. Callum Wilson is the offending party, and deemed to be interfering with play.

Good start from the home side at the Vitality.
