From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Brighton will hope to take advantage of Bournemouth's recent poor form and leapfrog the Cherries in the table when the two sides meet this weekend.

Eddie Howe's side have lost six of their last seven Premier League matches, while a late Eden Hazard strike saw them knocked out of the EFL Cup by Chelsea in midweek.

Brighton on the other hand began December well by beating Huddersfield and Crystal Palace, but the subsequent optimism created ahead of the festive period has been tempered by defeats to Burnley and Chelsea over the last fortnight.

What time does it start?

Bournemouth vs Brighton kicks off at 3pm (GMT)

Where can I watch it?

The match will not be shown live on TV or online in the UK.

Independent Sport will keep you up to date with all the goals as they fly in via our live blog.

Highlights will be shown at 10:30pm on BBC One.

Player to watch…

Solly March: The 24-year-old was far and away Brighton's best player as they succumbed to defeat against Chelsea. The midfielder scored to set up a tense finale at the Amex and was a creative force all game. With Bournemouth missing midfielders Dan Gosling and Lewis Cook through injury, March's ability could see the visitors win the midfield battle which could decide the game.

Manchester City are sizeable favourites at home against Crystal Palace this afternoon as they seek a win to keep pace with Liverpool, who safely returned home with three points in the bag after a Friday night visit to Wolves.

Roy Hodgson's side face a tough task today, but the Palace manager thinks his side won't be overawed and have a real chance of victory:

Just a few moments from kick off this afternoon.

Plenty of Christmas cheer around the grounds today, though this Newcastle fan may perhaps just be trying to keep warm...

The clock strikes three, and the six games are underway.

Manchester City 0-0 Crystal Palace, 2 minutes

Vicente Guaita has come into the Crystal Palace team recently and is forced into an early flying stop to prevent Fabian Delph opening the scoring.

West Ham 0-0 Watford, 3 minutes

West Ham are seeking a fifth consecutive win and nearly begin in perfect fashion.

Christian Kabasele does brilliantly to get back and prevent Javier Hernandez slotting home Robert Snodgrass' cross.

Bournemouth 0-0 Brighton, 6 minutes

A battle for the South Coast at the Vitality Stadium and Brighton have started well.

First Florin Andone can't latch on to a Jurgen Locadia cross and then Yves Bissouma's effort is clear of the crossbar.

Both sides keen to play attacking football in the opening minutes. There could be goals in this one.

Bournemouth 0-0 Brighton, 11 minutes

More good play from Brighton and Yves Bissouma forces Asmir Begovic into a strong save, staying big to the last moment to block the effort after Bissouma exchanged passes with Pascal Groß.

Bournemouth 0-0 Brighton, 13 minutes

No goals as of yet at any of the six games.

Bournemouth-Brighton has been full of action, however, and this time the hosts go close as Callum Wilson heads just wide.

GOAL! Huddersfield 0-1 Southampton (Nathan Redmond, 15 minutes)

Ralph Hasenhuttl's arrival has sparked Nathan Redmond into some good form. He was influential against Arsenal last week, and he's put Southampton ahead this!

It is a through ball from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg that sets him free and Redmond finds an excellent finish past Jonas Lossl.
