From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Brighton will hope to take advantage of Bournemouth's recent poor form and leapfrog the Cherries in the table when the two sides meet this weekend.

Eddie Howe's side have lost six of their last seven Premier League matches, while a late Eden Hazard strike saw them knocked out of the EFL Cup by Chelsea in midweek.

Brighton on the other hand began December well by beating Huddersfield and Crystal Palace, but the subsequent optimism created ahead of the festive period has been tempered by defeats to Burnley and Chelsea over the last fortnight.

What time does it start?

Bournemouth vs Brighton kicks off at 3pm (GMT)

Player to watch…

Solly March: The 24-year-old was far and away Brighton's best player as they succumbed to defeat against Chelsea. The midfielder scored to set up a tense finale at the Amex and was a creative force all game. With Bournemouth missing midfielders Dan Gosling and Lewis Cook through injury, March's ability could see the visitors win the midfield battle which could decide the game.

That isn't great from Paul Pogba - he rushes a half-volley on the edge of the Cardiff area and slices towards the corner flag.

Manchester United's close passing has been impressive so far, and they again work the tight spaces nicely though Jesse Lingard misplaces his square pass with two players waiting on the right.

Three goals for Manchester United and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be very pleased with what he has seen so far.

Cardiff are pressing well to open the second half, but a perfect bisecting pass through to the midfield from David De Gea allows Manchester United to break the shackles.

The crowd's spirits have been dampened and the noise is coming from the away end in these early second half stages.

Superb defending from Sol Bamba, matching Marcus Rashford stride-for-stride, winning the ball and beating Anthony Martial to the follow-up, too.

Cardiff give the ball away again, however, and Rashford's low cross is deflected behind.
