From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. England dropping Rooney is not my problem, says Mourinho

There are no winners in Evans rape case

Ince: Lose against United and you've let everyone down

Will Leicester ever dediscover their winning touch?

The key questions facing the big six this weekend

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho said on Friday that Wayne Rooney being dropped by England as well as Manchester United was not his problem but that the player was positive ahead of Monday’s match at Liverpool.

In a testy press conference during which he was reluctant to engage with most of the questions, Mourinho was asked if he felt it had been a difficult period for Rooney. “That’s not my problem. England’s not my problem,” he said. Asked about the 30-year-old’s current mental state, he added: “He is good he is prepared, he is training well and is positive.”

44 min: Ozil delivers, an incoming Mustafi just misses, and the ball is booted clear. The danger passes...for now.

HALF TIME: Arsenal 2-1 Swansea

After being blown away in the opening 30 minutes, Swansea have fought their way back into this and head into the break with hope. This is the Gunners game for the taking though and another goal would surely seal the deal.

89 min: Naughton floats one in from the right and it's Fer who rises highest at the far post to meet it. He had a big target to hit but instead fired his header straight down the throat of Cech who comfortably claimed the effort with two big hands. That should have definitely been 3-3.

90 min: Four minutes of injury time confirmed as Borja steps up this time for a headed attempt. He directed his effort low and towards Cech's right but the Swansea man was too far out to stand any real chance of scoring the equaliser.
