From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Gunners need all three points as they attempt to haul in those above them and keep their vain hopes of a top four place alive. Meanwhile, the Potters are in equally dire need of a win with relegation now a real possibility for Paul Lambert's men as we head into the crucial run-in.

The players are out on the pitch at the Emirates and kick-off is just moments away!
4' - Close!
Stoke, who have been by far the better side in these early stages, almost open the scoring as Xherdan Shaqiri whips a lovely effort just wide of David Ospina's far post from the edge of the area.
What a goal that would have been.
9' - Nearly 10 minutes gone now here and Arsenal are yet to really find their feet in this one.
That early Shaqiri effort remains the best chance of the match and Stoke, you have to say, are still looking the more threatening side.
13' - Danny Welbeck has been plagued with injuries since his transfer to Arsenal in 2014 and he's just signalled to the bench that he's struggling with a groin injury.
The striker is carrying on for now but the issue will surely concern Arsene Wenger ahead of Thursday's Europa League clash with CSKA Moscow.
19' - A bit of a dull game, this one. No real intensity from Arsenal and Stoke, Xherdan Shaqiri aside, don't possess the quality to punish the hosts for their approach to the game.
22' - Woodwork!
Arsenal's first real attack of the match almost ends in a goal but Aaron Ramsey's close-range chip over Jack Butland skims the top of the crossbar and goes behind for a goal-kick.
Neat little effort, that.
