From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Unai Emery’s team will be hoping to bounce back after a 3-1 penalty shootout defeat by Atletico Madrid earlier this week, after a 1-1 draw in normal time.
PSG will likely pose a similarly tough test, with former Arsenal managerial target Unai Emery in the dugout.

60 mins: GOAL! Arsenal 1-1 PSG
Nkunku sends Martinez the wrong way and it's all-square.
61 mins: That's harsh on Arsenal, who have been the better side. But they've started this second-half slowly, their momentum perhaps affected by all of those subs, and they've been made to pay the price.
63 mins: Arsenal are making five (FIVE) changes. Great. Next update in 10 minutes after I've typed them all out.
67 mins: GOAL! Arsenal snatch back the lead through Lacazette!
68 mins: What a ball from Smith Rowe! The teenager has only been on the field for a matter of minutes, but breaks down the right and sends in a low skidding cross to Lacazette. The Frenchman reacts quickly, flicking the ball past Buffon, and Arsenal lead!
70 mins: Close from Ramsey. The Welshman runs onto Lacazette's cute header but rather trips over the ball, with Buffon quick to race off his line and collect.
71 mins: GOAL! Arsenal 3-1 Paris Saint-Germain.
Lacazette again!
72 mins: The ball is swung into the box and Ramsey's glancing header eludes everyone apart from Lacazette, who is waiting patiently at the back stick. He nods home as Arsenal go 3-1 ahead.
And Buffon's last contribution to this match is picking the ball out of his net. He's replaced by Sebastien Cibois.
