From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

It’s a big game for…

Olivier Giroud. Should he start, the Frenchman will be out to prove a point having played a secondary role in recent months. With two goals in Arsenal’s last two matches, and a total of 10 this season, it’s evident that Giroud can deliver – regardless of how he does so. It’s time to stake his claim to a spot in Arsene Wenger’s starting XI and seize the opportunity should he be presented with it on Sunday afternoon.

Remember when…

Arsenal pulled ahead to a 2-0 lead within the space of 60 seconds? A goal apiece from Mesut Ozil and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the first-half were enough to see the visitors through to a 2-0 victory last February at the Vitality Stadium.

Player to watch…

Mesut Ozil. The German has a bit of a record against Bournemouth, scoring in his side’s last two encounters against the south coast club. After his assured and influential performance against PSG on Wednesday night, which helped drag his team into back a match they had initially led, Ozil should be given a much more of a comfortable ride on Sunday afternoon. Let’s see what he can do.

Head-to-head…

AFC Bournemouth 0 Arsenal 2 (Ozil, Oxlade-Chamberlain), Premier League, February 2016

Arsenal 2 (Paulista, Ozil) AFC Bournemouth 0, Premier League, December 2015

Arsenal 3 (Richardson, Smith, Thomas) AFC Bournemouth 0, League Cup, October 1987

53 MINS

Watford appear to be maintaining possession this half and are beginning to control the tempo of the play. They have rightfully binned the defending deep approach that they had been using in the first half, that was allowing Stoke to control the midfield.

Stoke send a long distance free kick up the field, with Shaqiri leading the attack. Pereyra brings this attack to the end with a clever defensive tackle.

This game is non-stop free kicks right now, for pointless fouls. This is stopping the games tempo and giving neither side the chance to attack.

Pieters has gone to ground after a clumsy challenge from Amrabat. After already being armed witha  yellow card, the Dutchman will have to be very careful. Again, it's a free kick that is stopping the rhythm of the play and stopping them from scoring.

Pereyra sends a corner in for Watford, but Pieters clears the danger. The ball is then sent back in, but Grant comes out and punches it away.

A corner for Stoke is cleared to safety by Ighala. Neither side are making the most of their set pieces so far.

An attack from Watford begins with Capoue, but the final cross into the box from Britos is easily headed away by the Stoke defence. Nonetheless, the home side certainly look more threatening going forward this half. The Potters are on the backfoot.

Pieters takes down Pereyra and gives away a free kick in a dangerous position for Watford.

They need to make the most of this.

Pereyra delivers the ball into the box and it finds the head of Britos, but it's an uncomfortable header that fails to test Gomes, who punches the ball to safety.
