From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

It’s a big game for…

Olivier Giroud. Should he start, the Frenchman will be out to prove a point having played a secondary role in recent months. With two goals in Arsenal’s last two matches, and a total of 10 this season, it’s evident that Giroud can deliver – regardless of how he does so. It’s time to stake his claim to a spot in Arsene Wenger’s starting XI and seize the opportunity should he be presented with it on Sunday afternoon.

Remember when…

Arsenal pulled ahead to a 2-0 lead within the space of 60 seconds? A goal apiece from Mesut Ozil and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the first-half were enough to see the visitors through to a 2-0 victory last February at the Vitality Stadium.

Player to watch…

Mesut Ozil. The German has a bit of a record against Bournemouth, scoring in his side’s last two encounters against the south coast club. After his assured and influential performance against PSG on Wednesday night, which helped drag his team into back a match they had initially led, Ozil should be given a much more of a comfortable ride on Sunday afternoon. Let’s see what he can do.

Head-to-head…

AFC Bournemouth 0 Arsenal 2 (Ozil, Oxlade-Chamberlain), Premier League, February 2016

Arsenal 2 (Paulista, Ozil) AFC Bournemouth 0, Premier League, December 2015

Arsenal 3 (Richardson, Smith, Thomas) AFC Bournemouth 0, League Cup, October 1987

54 MINS

It's an anticlimactic strike. High and wide. He should be hitting the target from there.

Bolasie charges into the Southampton half, he beats his man and pulls the trigger but it goes wide.

His pace and power combination is enough to trouble any defence on his day.

Austin tests Stekelenburg from close range with a header, but once again the keeper steps up to the job and parries it wide. The Dutch keeper has put in a shift today.

Southampton continue to press forward, but they fail to find the final product. It's the same story for Koeman's men.

This is still anyone's game.

64 MINS

What a save from Forster! Bolasie leaps into the air and connects with the overhead kick beautifully. However, the lunging right leg of the keeper saves his side.

Lukaku picks up the ball and sprints towards the Southampton goal, but within seconds, he is surrounded by red and white shirts. It takes three of them to muscle him off the ball, but it worked and they regain possession. Safety in numbers and all that.

SUBSTITUTION

Mirallas replaces Barkley.

72 MINS

Redmond goes for goal from just inside of the box, but he is leaning too far back and it flies way over the bar. No test for Stekelenburg.

75 MINS

Everton are stringing the ball round well in the box, but Southampton are sitting deep and outplaying them. Bolasie goes down on the edge of the box and wins his side a free kick.
