The 2023/24 Premier League season is under way and you can follow every game and every goal right here with The Independent.

This year sees Manchester City try to defend their crown and claim a historic fourth title in succession. Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City, who also won the Champions League and FA Cup last season, will have to see off Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and the rest to claim an unprecedented sixth league title in seven years.

Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

Follow the latest action from the Premier League below.

A swinging Hudson-Odoi arm has caught Coufal in the face. There's been no foul given as the home fans bay for a booking for the Czech defender. That said, they've not seen his bloodied lip. We have a stoppage here, as the no.5 gets cleaned up.

Half chance here. Elanga is lively down the right and pulls a flighted ball back to the edge of the box. Danilo can't connect and it trickles through to Areola.

Speaking of Hudson-Odoi - he's ok now compared to a hobbling Gibbs-White. Hudson-Odoi has scored a goal in each of his last two Premier League appearances for Nottingham Forest, as many as he’d scored in his first previous 43 matches combined. It is the only time Hudson-Odoi has found the net in consecutive Premier League games. Being on target again would be welcome here, as Gibbs-White moves gingerly after treatment.

In their 6-0 defeat against Arsenal, West Ham had their joint-fewest shots (5), fewest shots on target (1), registered their lowest xG (0.2) and had their fewest touches in the opposition box (7) in a Premier League game this season. Of course, not pleasant reading, yet there's been a markedly better showing already today - even if Antonio's composure appears to have been left on the team coach.

Racing in behind is yet another common theme between the two sides. Kudus is proving to be a bolt of energy for the visitors. It's clear he'll likely be involved in anything positive Moyes' side can muster.

The feet of Areola come to West Ham's rescue! Elanga slides a delightful ball in behind and Awoniyi looks destined to score. However, the French 'keeper flies out excellently to offer a slide tackle his centre backs would be proud of. And breathe...

Approaching half an hour, a game of football has broken out! Dominguez stumbles over the ball, Gibbs-White gets on the rebounded block and forces a fine reaction stop from Areola! Up the other end, Antonio is free - but has too much time. He gets tackled easily. Frustrating...

Bowen strikes low, almost in anger! Not enough power unfortunately and Sels is hardly tested.
