Perhaps the greatest significance of this 99th-minute 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest, beyond the vintage late header of such a classic run-in victory, was that Jurgen Klopp’s side kept persevering despite so many absences. They have kept this form going, and still have a number of stars to come back.
The return of a player who is definitely ascending to that kind of level for supporters was the crucial difference here.

Nottingham Forest vs Liverpool
Liverpool win their first-ever Premier League game away at Forest, with Nunez heading in a late winner to give the Reds a 1-0 victory. The Reds dominated throughout but failed to have a shot on target in the first half. Forest had the best chance before the break, with Kelleher making a great stop to keep out Elanga after a quick counter. Liverpool upped the pressure in the second half, with Robertson seeing a shot cleared off the line before Diaz and Nunez both went close. In the ninth minute of stoppage time, Mac Allister picked out Nunez with a lovely ball, and the substitute glanced in the winner to seal a big three points. It means that Liverpool go four points clear at the top of the table, with Manchester City and Arsenal not playing until later on this weekend. Next up for them is their Europa League round of 16 first leg against Sparta Prague. Forest stay in 17th, still four points above the drop zone. They travel to Brighton next weekend. That's all for today, goodbye!

BLOCK! Forest break quickly on the counter once more, with Hudson-Odoi striding down the left before sweeping a cross to the edge of the box. Gibbs-White has space for a shot, which he takes, but Van Dijk sticks out a leg to deflect it wide.

GREAT SAVE! Tsimikas whips Liverpool's latest corner into the box and it's just too high for Nunez and hits Murillo behind him. The defender doesn't know much about it as his header bounces towards goal, but Sels reflexively sticks out his arm to keep it out on the line.
