Nottingham Forest will have designs on picking up all three points against struggling Brighton when the teams clash at the City Ground this afternoon.
Steve Cooper wants his Forest side to close out matches with clinical performances when they’ve been on top as he looks to continue to distance his team from the bottom three. Forest slipped to defeat last time out against West Ham, thanks to a late goal from Tomas Soucek, and will want to rectify that today.
After a wonderful start for Brighton where they won five of their first six games, Roberto de Zerbi’s men have not triumphed in the league since September. Four draws from their last five games is a frustrating return for the Seagulls who have their sights set on Europe.

Adingra cuts in from the right and sends a pass into the box. Lallana dummies it and it falls to Ferguson with his back to goal, before he sets Gilmour up for a shot on the edge of the area. The Brighton midfielder looks to place his strike into the corner, but Vlachodimos gets down well to save.

Ferguson wins the ball in the middle and pokes a pass into the path of Lallana who closes in on the box. As the Brighton midfielder looks to shoot, Murillo makes a superb challenge to deny him. Lallana will feel he should have moved the ball quicker.

Veltman and Lallana work the ball well on the right before Adingra wins a corner for the Seagulls. Gross delivers it into the penalty area, but it's headed clear. De Zebri's side are struggling to create anything of note in the opening stages of the game, with Forest staying resolute at the back.

Gross turns superbly in the middle and floats the ball into the box. After a scramble in the penalty area, Fati lays the ball to Gilmour on the edge of the area. The Brighton midfielder looks to strike one from range, but he gets it all wrong and the ball goes flying over the bar.

Brighton have enjoyed plenty of the ball since the game got under way, but have struggled to break Forest down so far. The Seagulls have had 64.8 per cent of the possession, but are yet to test Vlachodimos between the sticks.

Adingra drives through the middle of the pitch and sends the ball to Fati on the wing who looks to take on Niakhate. The Spanish winger cuts inside and unleashes an effort from range, but it deflects behind for a corner. Forest deal with the set-piece and are able to clear.

Danilo feeds the ball out wide to Elanga who cuts back onto his right and sends a cross into the penalty area. Van Hecke is there to cut out the danger and clear. Cooper's men are getting plenty of joy in the final third in the early proceedings, and Brighton will have to tighten up at the back to avoid conceding again.
