Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

It's a penalty to City! Gvardiol fires a pass out wide to Doku who is in plenty of space, and he drives into the penalty area. Onyedinma sticks out a leg and Doku goes to ground, and this time the referee points to the spot. The Luton defender can have no complains with that one.

Man City want a penalty! Doku looks to drive with the ball into the penalty area and he skips past Onyedinma and arrives in the box. The Luton defender attempts to win it back but Doku goes to ground, and the Belgian winger appeals for a foul. The referee says no and awards a goal-kick to the Hatters.

De Bruyne has been at the heart of everything for Man City in today's game, and he receives the ball once again just outside the Luton penalty area. He floats a delivery towards the back post and Lewis looks to slide it back into the danger zone, but he doesn't get enough on it and Kaminski is able to collect.

Luton go close! The Hatters look to hit City on the counter-attack as Onyedinma robs the ball from Gvardiol. He drives into the penalty area and gets to the byline before pulling it back to around the penalty spot. Woodrow arrives into the box and he attempts to bend it towards the top corner, but it cannons off the bar and away from danger! That was their first shot of the game, and it was inches away from being a goal!
