Manchester City celebrated their latest Premier League title triumph with a straightforward 1-0 win over Chelsea on Sunday.

Pep Guardiola’s treble-chasing side had already been confirmed as champions for a fifth time in six seasons after Arsenal’s loss to Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

That meant the Etihad Stadium was in celebratory mood for the visit of the Blues and a much-changed side gave the fans another success to cheer courtesy of an early Julian Alvarez goal.

Chelsea had a few bright moments but City, without getting anywhere near the intensity with which they crushed Real Madrid in midweek, always seemed in control.

Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live: “It feels great to win three in a row and five in six.

“There are so many teams that can win it so what we’ve achieved in the last few years has been really good. It’s historic because not many teams have done it.

“Now we can enjoy it with our fans and think about the FA Cup final and Champions League final. We want to win all three. We are going to work a lot and will do our best to get those trophies.

“We will be competitive and be respectful for our final two games in the Premier League. If we switch off the it will be difficult to switch back on for the two finals.

“Everyone has been amazing, the staff and the managers included.”

This Manchester City side is incredible.

This is a period of Premier League dominance not seen since Manchester United won five titles in six seasons between 1996 and 2001.

As long as Pep Guardiola stays at the club, this team will continue to break records for years to come.

Nathan Ake has won a Premier League title every season he’s been at Manchester City. His increased contribution this season means that this victory means more to him than the others.

“If you’re contributing more, you feel more involved and I’m very happy with this one,” he admitted. “You have to get your rhythm and momentum in the team. When you get opportunities, you have to take them.

“I think the manager has always captivated me and given me opportunities. I’ve felt this season that I’ve been growing and growing.”

Man City’s Kevin de Bruyne talking to Sky Sports: “You work 11 months to see this. It is a day to celebrate with the fans and the family. It is amazing.

“People expect us to win a lot but we work every day for this. People sacrifice a lot for the team. It is tougher physically than it is mentally because you have to go and go again.

“I have been here eight years. This is my home and the amazing moments keep on coming.

“We just try to perform the best we can. I just want to do the best I can and play good football. I want to win more and keep going.

“It is two games now we need to get ready for.”

Frank Lampard reveals Chelsea future ahead of Mauricio Pochettino confirmation

Frank Lampard has revealed he will not stay on at Chelsea to work under their next manager, with Mauricio Pochettino expected to be confirmed as Graham Potter’s successor.

Lampard has been in interim charge at Stamford Bridge for the last nine games, losing seven, and his short-term contract will expire at the end of the season.

He is expected to focus on trying to get another managerial post after previous spells in charge of Derby, Chelsea and Everton while Pochettino is likely to be joined by his usual backroom staff of Jesus Perez, Miguel D’Agostino, Toni Jimenez and his son Sebastiano.

Reaction from Jack Grealish who stopped celebrating to have a chat with Sky Sports.

“It is different for me personally, I have played more of a part,” he said, “I feel back to my normal self.

“Last season was nice because it was the first one but this year it is so nice as I feel I have played more of a part.

“It is mad. I spoke to some of the lads not a while ago and said imagine you have to win 12 games in a row to win the league. We have so much talent and we feel unstoppable.

“I feel so much more confident in this team. I feel fitter and back to what I know, what I can do. This is why Man City bought me and I have so much to offer.

“It doesn’t stop yet, we still have some massive games left. Especially since the last international break, we feel unstoppable and we have been unbelievable.”
