Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku scored and created two more goals in seven blistering first-half minutes before adding two more assists in the second period as the champions hammered Bournemouth 6-1 to go top of the Premier League.

After probing carefully for the opening half-hour, City finally opened the scoring on the half-hour mark when Doku played a slick one-two with Rodri on the edge of the box before guiding the ball home.

Three minutes later Doku’s dazzling footwork left the Bournemouth defence flat-footed as he squared for Bernardo Silva to score the second and in the 37th minute his left-foot shot was deflected into the net by team mate Manuel Akanji.

Doku teed up substitute Phil Foden to score in the 64th and, though Luis Sinisterra pulled one back for the Cherries, Silva and Nathan Ake wrapped up the win to send City top on 27 points, one ahead of Tottenham Hotspur, who host Chelsea on Monday.

Manchester City vs AFC Bournemouth

City go top of the Premier League with a brilliant 6-1 win over Bournemouth. Doku was the star of the show, having a hand in five of City's six goals today. He opened the scoring just before the half-hour mark, before setting up Silva for a second and seeing a shot deflect past Radu off Akanji's back. Bournemouth made a bright start to the second half, and it could've been a much different story. Solanke's close-range finish was disallowed for offside before he rattled the bar. Doku then set up two more goals, with Foden and Silva both netting on either side of Sinisterra's consolation. Ake then rounded things off with a diving header late on. City leapfrog Spurs and Arsenal into first place for now, with both sides still yet to play this weekend. Next up for them is Young Boys in the Champions League. Bournemouth stay just outside the relegation zone, with another tough test in Newcastle next up for them. That's all for today, goodbye!

SAVE! City almost make a grandstand finish as Lewis slides a wonderful pass through Bournemouth's backline to pick out Kovacic's run. He gets it caught under his feet but still manages to get a shot away, only to fire it straight at Radu.

Bournemouth are looking to try and get another late consolation here and Kerkez makes a great run down the left. His pull-back to Rothwell is slightly short though and Akanji comes away with it.

Aarons will be glad to see the back of Doku when the final whistle comes. The Belgian catches him out with another clever flick, but for the first time, he's let down by a heavy touch as it rolls out for a goal-kick.

City flood numbers into Bournemouth's box once more, but this time, they just overcomplicate it. It's crowded in there, and Foden tries to spin his way out of trouble with some clever footwork, only to give it away.

Nunes slides a lovely throughball down the right for Lewis, but Senesi is giving him absolutely no time on the ball. They wrestle to the ground, but it does result in City's 12th corner.
