The Uefa Champions League continues with matchday two starting on Tuesday night, as Manchester United get their first chance to play in front of their fans in the competition this season. They’ll be hosting Turkish side Galatasaray and looking to kick-start their European campaign having been beaten 4-3 by Bayern Munich in their opener.

At the same time, Galatasaray fought back from two goals down against Copenhagen to pick up a point, leaving Man United bottom in Group A after the first round of fixtures.

While the Red Devils therefore are in sore need of a victory, the form guide is strongly against them doing so - they’ve lost four of the last six including a home weekend defeat to Crystal Palace. Follow the latest news and updates from Man United vs Galatasary below and get the latest odds and tips here.

1’ - Man Utd 0-0 Galatasaray

Kick-off! Underway at Old Trafford. No room for mistakes tonight, United need the result or it will quickly become a difficult-looking group to escape.

The players are in the tunnel and set to come out. It should be a big noise and atmosphere for them - but that won’t exactly be an intimidation factor for Galatasaray of course, given their own home crowd on occasions.

United need to be inspired by it though, that’s for sure. We’re about ready to get started!

Under 15 minutes to kick-off at Old Trafford. United really need a response after the first defeat in Munich, but also after the home loss to Palace at the weekend and a poor performance.

Antony returns to Man Utd squad for Champions League after five-match absence

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has recalled winger Antony to a matchday squad for the first time since allegations of assault were made against him. He is named among the subs for the Champions League clash with Turkish side Galatasaray, which takes place at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

The Brazil international was removed from the Selecao squad in September and put on a “period of absence” by United, during which time he did not train or play with the team.

In the first round of matches neither of these teams managed a victory, but Galatasaray will at least be pleased they avoided defeat after being two goals down.

They drew 2-2 with Copenhagen, while Man United lost 4-3 to Bayern Munich in an entertaining match.

PGMOL release audio and review findings after Luis Diaz’s disallowed goal for Liverpool

The refereeing body, Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), have released another statement surrounding what happened for the disallowed Luis Diaz goal for Liverpool in their defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League at the weekend.

Clarifying that a review has taken place, PGMOL also released a further statement along with the audio between match officials from that fixture, saying that “key learnings and immediate actions taken” had been sent on to the Anfield club and the rest of the Premier League, which features an improved communication protocol and double-checking outcomes between the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) and the assistant of the same role.

Additionally, the FA along with the refs’ body has opted to “review the policy” of allowing officials to take charge of fixtures outside of their usual appointed domestic and international or intercontinental ones, after further criticism as it emerged Simon Hooper and his team - those involved in the Tottenham vs Liverpool match - were on duty in a UAE-based fixture just 48 hours earlier.

During the released audio file the exchange between officials can be heard as they follow the play through to its culmination - Diaz scoring - and then arranging the 2D line to check his position.

Once the line is touching the defender’s boot and shows Luis Diaz onside by a significant distance, VAR Darren England says out loud: “And stop, check complete, check complete. That’s fine, perfect.” The audio and video then show the match resuming, until the Replay Operator steps in to say “Wait, the on-field decision was offside.” He then questions if “Daz” - Darren England - is “happy” with the outcome of play continuing, with England not appearing to immediately grasp the situation before swearing when he realises the magnitude of his error.

‘No excuse’ for Man United to lose at home to Crystal Palace, says Erik ten Hag

Erik ten Hag said he understood the supporters who booed Manchester United off after their 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace and admitted there was no excuse for the result.

United suffered a fifth defeat already this season and a second in as many league games at Old Trafford after Joachim Andersen scored for Roy Hodgson’s team.

And Ten Hag said: “I understand. When we played at home we play Crystal Palace, we have to win. With all respect, I know every game in is very difficult, you have to play your best and I understand fans expecting a win and we didn’t win. We lost.”

The United manager was reluctant to use mitigating factors to try and justify a disappointing result and their inconsistent start to the campaign.
