Substitute Scott McTominay struck twice deep into stoppage time to snatch a 2-1 win for Manchester United over Brentford in a thrilling end to their Premier League clash at Old Trafford on Saturday.

United’s defensive frailties were exposed in the 26th minute when Casemiro gave the ball away and makeshift left back Victor Lindelof failed to clear, allowing Mathias Jensen to slot the ball under the body of keeper Andre Onana whoshould have saved it comfortably.

United, beaten twice at home in the last week, created plenty of scoring opportunities, many of them from distance, in the second half, but put precious few on target until McTominay rattled home the equaliser after a goalmouth scramble in the 93rd minute.

The Scot netted again in the seventh minute of stoppage time to send the home fans wild and grab all three points for his side who climbed to ninth in the table on 12 points, five ahead of 14th-placed Brentford.

ALMOST 2-0! Norgaard feeds Mbeumo in an inside-right position. He opens up his body before bending a shot towards the bottom-left corner with Onana scrambling, but it curls just wide!

SAVE! Lindelof slips a pass into Rashford's feet on the left corner of the box. He's somewhat fortunate to get through Roerslev's challenge, but a nice drop of the shoulder then opens up space for a shot… only for Strakosha to hold it at his near post!

Ajer flies into a booming 50-50 with Amrabat and comes out on top, then a careless foul grants Brentford a free-kick. Hickey drives over halfway as the Bees go forward, but his pass towards Roerslev slides out of play.

Lindelof goes down awkwardly, holding his back after going over the top of Amrabat and Roerslev. The stand-in left-back is back to his feet to take a throw-in and he looks okay to continue.

Collins goes up for a deep free-kick, which is taken by Strakosha. The Irishman appeals for a corner as it's flicked behind, but the referee rules he had the final touch.

It's another demoralising start for United, but there may be hope yet… Brentford have won just one of the five previous Premier League games in which they've taken the lead this season, drawing with Tottenham, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Forest.

Brentford are not happy as Wissa is left in a heap by Evans on halfway. The referee waves play on, however, as the Bees look to play through United's high press.

United look to respond immediately through Rashford, who is crowded out on the edge of the area. The home fans are growing restless as Mount fails to control Casemiro's driven cross.

Onana has his head in his hands again, he should definitely have done better there as Jensen's finish was nowhere near the corner!
