From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Manchester United secured their first win under Ruben Amorim as Rasmus Hojlund struck twice in a seesaw 3-2 victory over Bodo/Glimt at Old Trafford.

While the Portuguese coach’s opening fixture against Ipswich brought a new system and new approach, many of the same failings that led to the sacking of Erik ten Hag remained apparent as Manchester United ceded an early lead to be held at Portman Road. There would have been fears of something similar here when, having gone ahead inside 60 seconds through Alejandro Garnacho, the hosts fell behind as their Norwegian visitors struck twice in quick succession.

But Hojlund levelled with a fine finish just before half time, before putting Amorim’s side back in front by turning the lively Mason Mount’s cross into the far corner to secure three points in the Europa League.
