Pep Guardiola has become the third manager in English football to win the League and FA Cup double in multiple seasons (also 2018/19) after Arsene Wenger (1997/98 and 2001/02) and Alex Ferguson (1993/94, 1995/96 and 1998/99).

Manchester City captain and match winner Ilkay Gundogan, speaking to BBC Sport: "To win a final is always special. Every trophy is special. This group deserves it. We played really well, second half was amazing and we deserved to lift another trophy.

"Obviously we know how we want to play the kick off and we aim to do that, to go long for Erling and try to get a second ball. It just placed amazingly for me and I just had to hit it. Obviously it was a quite good strike.

"I don’t need these kind of days to feel appreciated and feel special in this club. I know that and that is why I have been here seven years. Nothing is decided yet, we will see what will happen."

City made an incredible start with Ilkay Gundogan scoring after 13 seconds, only for Bruno Fernandes to level from the penalty spot after a VAR review. Gundogan hit back once more to claim his brace after the restart and briefly thought he had a third, ruled out for offside, while United went close through Alejandro Garnacho and Scott McTominay but couldn’t find the second equaliser they needed.
