Manchester City staged a sensational comeback from 2-0 down to retain the Premier League title with a dramatic 3-2 win over Aston Villa.
Needing to win to be assured of holding off Liverpool, City were in danger of blowing it as Matty Cash and former Reds star Philippe Coutinho struck at the Etihad Stadium. Yet Pep Guardiola’s side showed all their champion quality to rally with Ilkay Gundogan coming off the bench to score twice either side of a superb Rodri strike in a remarkable five-minute spell.
City had known that second-placed Liverpool, trailing by just a point, could overtake them with victory over Wolves and there were times in the afternoon when they lived on their nerves.
When they trailed by two, Liverpool were being held 1-1 and news of another goal at Anfield at that stage, could have been a hammer blow. Yet in remarkable final-day drama, City cast off the shackles of a dismal first-half display to turn the game around and render Liverpool’s eventual win academic.

66 mins: Chance! Oleksander Zinchenko dribbles the ball down the left side and perfectly picks out Gabriel Jesus in the box. He stops the ball dead and shoots on the spin only to be denied by Calum Chambers’ last ditch block.

63 mins: Save! Trent Alexander-Arnold receives the ball and cuts inside from the right. He brings the ball through midfield then drills one at goal. John Ruddy leaps to his left and palms the ball over to Mo Salah who dinks his effort over the crossbar!

59 mins: A sweeping move from Man City sees them work the ball down the left wing and lace it inside to Foden. He lets it run and the ball is sent across to Joao Cancelo. He sends it into the box with his first touch but there are no runners and the ball goes out for a goal kick.

57 mins: Mo Salah is stripped and ready to come on. Liverpool’s leading goalscorer could have something to say about where the Premier League title ends up.
Diogo Jota is the man replaced.
Man City 0 - 1 Aston Villa
54 mins: Chance! A short corner from City is flicked into the box by De Bruyne but Stones fires his header wide. Robin Olsen boots the goal kick straight down the pitch and Ollie Watkins sprints in behind. He starts his run inside his own half and collects the ball, with just the goalkeeper to beat Watkins flicks his shot wide of the post!
