Chelsea match-winner Erin Cuthbert sends message to fans after historic result

Lyon pulled off a stunning late comeback to snatch a 3-2 win at home to Paris Saint-Germain in their all-French Women’s Champions League semi-final first leg, with all three Lyon goals coming in the last 10 minutes.

Lyon, whose eight Champions League titles makes them the most successful club in the competition’s history, started well and exerted plenty of pressure, but PSG soaked it up comfortably before hitting them with a pair of sucker punches.

PSG striker Marie-Antoinette Katoto broke the deadlock in the 44th minute as Lyon defender Ellie Carpenter sagged off her, leaving her just enough space to rifle a low drive into the net despite losing her balance in the process.

Three minutes into the second half Katoto struck again. Played onside by Selma Bacha, Katoto latched on to a blocked shot and pulled the trigger quickly to double her side’s lead.

That goal provoked a strong response from Lyon but it took until the 80th minute for them to pull a goal back, Kadidiatou Diani toe-poking the ball into the bottom-left corner to set up a frenetic finish.

Five minutes later Lyon were level as Melchie Dumornay curled a sensational effort into the top corner, and a minute later substitute Amel Majri grabbed the winner with a superb turn and shot.

HT: Lyon 0-1 PSG

Certainly an entertaining half for the neutral there. Plenty of quality on show in attack and defence, as well as some fine goalkeeping, excellent shooting and inventive attacking play.

Lyon have huffed and puffed but PSG picked their moment perfectly. It’s another 1-0 lead for the away side at half-time in the first leg of a Women’s Champions League semi-final.

Fingers crossed for more of the same in the next 45.

HALF-TIME! Lyon 0-1 PSG

HALF-TIME! The referee blows the whistle and the away side go in with an unexpected – though not undeserved – lead.

Both sides had chances but PSG were clinical when it mattered most!

Lyon 0-1 PSG

45 mins: There’ll be one minute of added time. Chawinga gets away down the left almost right after kick-off, but she fumbles her shot.

GOAL! Lyon 0-1 PSG

43 mins: GOAL! Talk about picking your moment; PSG are ahead!

Chawinga is strong in the challenge and the ball runs to Geyoro. He shifts it wide to Baltimore, who stands up Bacha before firing in a dangerous cross. It bounces to Katoto who brings it down and hits the shot while a little off-balance, but she manages to fire it into the bottom-left corner!

Lyon 0-0 PSG

40 mins: Lyon are on top, but much like in today’s earlier game, the away side are trying to stifle the opposition and wait for their moment to pounce. PSG have had their fair share of chances too.

A little lull in attacking activity at the moment.

Lyon 0-0 PSG

38 mins: CLOSE! Lyon should be 1-0 up really.

Cascarino exchanges passes on the edge of the box and then drops her shoulder, skips past the challenge and finds herself almost straight in front of goal. She has the whole goal to aim at but hits her shot straight at Picaud!

Excellent work initially but need to make the ‘keeper work more there.

Lyon 0-0 PSG

36 mins: Bacha takes a corner now, and Renard meets it once more but PSG clear. The home side are starting to turn the screw a bit here.
