Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez netted a brilliant goal as his side romped to a 3-1 Premier League win over a dogged West Ham United side at Anfield on Sunday, deftly steering home a volley on the hour mark.
The visitors got off to a flying start when Tomas Soucek forced a brilliant save from Alisson with a downward header in the seventh minute, and two minutes later Michail Antonio headed a Soucek cross wide with the goal at his mercy.
But the Hammers were left to rue those early misses when Mohamed Salah was felled by Nayef Aguerd in the 15th minute for a stonewall penalty, and the Egyptian attacker stepped up to smash home the resulting spot kick to give Liverpool the lead.
That kick-started the home side, but West Ham still managed to level before the break when Jarrod Bowen dived at the feet of Virgil van Dijk to score with a superb low header for his fourth goal of the season.
The goal was eerily similar to the James Ward-Prowse strike that put them ahead against Manchester City a week ago, but once again it wasn’t enough to get them anything from the game.
After spurning a number of decent chances, Nunez finally got on the scoresheet when he latched on to a beautiful lofted pass from Alexis Mac Allister, much to the delight of the Anfield crowd.
That goal took the wind out of the Hammers’ sails and substitute Diogo Jota was able to hook home a third goal from Virgil van Dijk’s knockdown in the 85th minute, four minutes after coming off the bench.
The win leaves Liverpool in second spot in the table on 16 points, two behind leaders Manchester City, while West Ham are seventh on 10 points.

WHAT A MISS! It's crowded on the edge of the West Ham penalty area, but Salah manages to poke it through to Nunez. He spins, but somehow gets it all wrong as he fires his shot well wide of the far post.

Moyes has never won in 18 previous Premier League away games against Liverpool (D6 L12). The only occasion of a manager taking charge of more away games against a side without ever winning is Moyes himself (19 at Arsenal).

A lot of the Reds' threat is coming down the left here and Robertson makes another good run down the left. He has two to aim for at the near post, but his cross is straight into Areola's gloves.

Liverpool have made a quick start to this half, and Robertson slides it forward for Diaz, who times his run perfectly. He squares it in from the byline, but Areola stops it from getting through with his legs.

Klopp will be fairly pleased with his side's performance - unlike them this season, they opened the scoring and were showing a lot of threat, but without really testing Areola, which is something he'll want to improve on. Moyes will having been rueing those early chances they missed, but his side grew back into the game and got their reward. They just need to keep moving the ball quickly in the final third.

It's all square at the break, with Liverpool and West Ham drawing 1-1. The Hammers had two glorious chances early on, with Alisson making a great save to deny Soucek before Antonio headed wide. At the other end, Salah won a penalty after being tripped by Aguerd, and converted with a powerful spot-kick. Just before the break, Bowen levelled things up with a wonderful diving header that went in off the inside of the far post.

Liverpool have one last chance to put the ball into the box with a corner, and Szoboslai floats it into the middle. Van Dijk nods it down into the middle, and Zouma stretches to take it away from Diaz just in time.
