24 mins Save! Liverpool are getting closer to a second. They burst forward on the counter attack and work the ball over to Luis Diaz on the left side. He’s made a run in behind Dallas at right-back then flies past Luke Ayling who comes across to close him down. Salah makes a run off the ball into the box but Diaz goes it alone and brings the ball in from the left. He opens up the far corner and shoots but Illan Meslier sticks out a left hand and clings onto the ball!

21 mins: The free kick comes to nothing for Liverpool as Leeds defend it well enough. Curtis Jones looks to slip Salah into the right side of the box but underhits his pass and Jack Harrison gets back in time to intercept and stop the attack.

Liverpool come again as Thiago Alcantara dispossesses Stuart Dallas high up the pitch. He takes the ball into the box but a heavy touch rolls it away from him and Luke Ayling is on hand to clear.

18 mins: Liverpool win the ball in their own half and work it down the right wing. Fabinho makes a decent run down the line and receives the ball. He’s looking for Sadio Mane is the box and passes the ball across just as Junior Firpo arrives. He slides into a tackle and clatters into the Liverpool midfielder after the ball has gone. Firpo goes in the book and Liverpool win a free kick.

14 mins: Fabinho drives the ball up the pitch from the right and passes it inside to Luis Diaz. He sends it over to Andy Robertson who whips an early cross into the box. The ball strikes Stuart Dallas on the arm and Liverpool appeal for a penalty. The referee wastes no time pointing to the spot and VAR confirms the decision.

12 mins: Mo Salah makes a run in behind Junior Firpo on the right side and Virgil van Dijk fires a long diagonal ball across the pitch for him. The ball bounces a few yards in front of Salah and skips through the box before heading out of play before the Liverpool forward can reach it.

9 mins: Nearly. Virgil van Dijk knocks the ball back to Alisson Becker in Liverpool’s goal and the goalkeeper is too laissez faire on the ball. He rolls it across to the right but is charged down by Daniel James. The Leeds striker pokes the ball away from Alisson but is clipped on his way around the goalkeeper leaving Joel Matip enough time to get to the ball first and clear the Liverpool lines.

6 mins: Chance! Big chance for Liverpool to open the scoring as Sadio Mane gets the ball in the middle of the pitch and drives in centrally into the Leeds final third. He passes the ball across to Luis Diaz and continues his run into the box. Diaz checks twice to the right to evade two tackles and then curls a shot towards the far top corner. The ball is heading in but it hits Mane and bounces wide of goal!

3 mins: Bright start from Leeds as Adam Forshaw presses through midfield and takes the ball off Joel Matip. The visitors work the ball over to the left side of the Liverpool final third but can’t find a way into the box.

Liverpool then pass the ball up to Luis Diaz who cuts inside and takes on Luke Ayling. He shimmies away from the defender and lets fly from range but can’t find the target with his first effort at goal.
