European champions Chelsea have proven they have what it takes to dethrone City, however, having done it in last season's Champions League final and will be hoping to add a domestic title to the one won in Porto.
Liverpool were winners back in 2020 ending a 30-year wait for league glory and Jurgen Klopp is sure to have them back challenging again at the sharp end this season too while Manchester United will be looking to be back in the title picture with Cristiano Ronaldo returning to his former club in the summer.
It's not all about the action at the top though with Norwich, Watford and Brentford promoted to the top tier for 2020/21 and hoping to hold their own against the best English football has to offer and avoid the drop.

Iwobi bursts forward again, and this time, he has Gordon ahead of him in support. He gets a nudge in the back from Matip and he goes down under the pressure, but the referee only points for a goal-kick.

Allan sends a hopeful clearance upfield and Iwobi sprints onto it before going up against Matip. In the end, the defender wins the duel by taking it off his toe as he tries to set himself for a shot.

It's all Liverpool at the start of the second half and they're pushing forward again here. Fabinho switches it out to Salah, who plays a clever reverse pass into Alexander-Arnold, but his chipped cross is straight into Pickford's gloves.

Robertson's corner is cleared by Holgate at the near post, but he only gets it as far as Keita just outside the box. He lets it bounce before firing a shot on goal, but it sails high and wide of the top corner.

Everton have done well to stifle Liverpool's attacking threat, and Klopp was a frustrated figure on the touchline. The Reds have dominated everywhere else on the pitch, but couldn't test Pickford. Everton's game plan is working to perfection so far, and Lampard will be hoping they can keep this up to collect a much-needed point.

It's goalless at the break between Liverpool and Everton. Neither side has managed a shot on target so far in the game, though they've created a couple of good chances. Everton arguably had the best one when Richarlison slid in Doucoure, but the midfielder dragged it wide. At the other end, Salah and Mane both fired over with shots from range, while Jota volleyed one wide.
