Liverpool vs Brentford LIVE: Premier League result and reaction from fixture today

Fernandez passes the ball to Norgaard who is caught in possession by Firmino. He prods it to Minamino in the box who lays it back to him. Fernandez closes down the striker so he gives the ball back to Minamino instead of shooting and Minamino guides it into the open net!

75 mins: Takumi Minamino has been brought on by Jurgen Klopp replacing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for the final 15 minutes or so.

Over at the London Stadium Leeds have seen a fourth game chalked off for offside after Mateusz Klich’s strike went in off Rodrigo who was in an offside position. Leeds still lead that game 3-2 though.

72 mins: It’s a killer blow for Brentford who have to decide whether to stick or twist. If they try to get a goal back they’ll leave themselves open at the back and could allow Liverpool to get more goals.

68 mins: What a save! A poor clearance from Brentford allows Liverpool to quickly work the ball back up the pitch. The ball comes to Roberto Frimino who slides the ball into the box for Diogo Jota. He weaves around Kristoffer Ajer and smokes one at goal only for Alvaro Fernandez to stick out a hand to deny Liverpool a second goal!

66 mins: Mbeumo intercepts a pass from Jones but runs into trouble. The 20-year-old midfielder presses the Brentford forward and tries to win back the ball. Mbeumo has no escape options and tries to hold him off before eventually going to ground. He’s desperate to here the whistle and does as the referee awards Brentford a free kick.

63 mins: Off the post! Diogo Jota brings the ball to the edge of the box and passes it across to Alexander-Arnold before continuing his run. Alexander-Arnold dinks a return pass back to Jota who shoots on the turn and rattles his effort into the far post!

60 mins: Hat-trick for Jack Harrison! West Ham are caught out of position at the back and the ball comes to Harrison over on the left side of the box. Fabianski attempts to charge him down but the Leeds winger chips the goalkeeper and puts the visitors back in front!

57 mins: Brentford hve started the second half well. They’re pressing higher up the pitch taking the battle to Liverpool in midfield and making it more difficult for the Reds to play it into the wider areas.

Chance! So close to an equaliser! Norgaard wins the ball in Liverpool’s half and threads a great pass into Mbeumo. He spins away from Matip and gets into the area before sliding his effort wide of the left-hand post.
