Bournemouth held West Ham United to a 1-1 draw on the opening day, halting a four-game Premier League losing streak that ended their 2022-23 campaign. As the Cherries successfully secured top-flight survival last term, they won three of their final five away fixtures, but they have never won at Anfield in any competition - a 2-2 draw in April 2017 was the only occasion they've avoided defeat. Nevertheless, they avenged last August's 9-0 losss by beating Liverpool at the Vitality Stadium in the teams' most recent meeting.

Having drawn 1-1 with Chelsea in their first match of the new Premier League season, Liverpool enter today's contest unbeaten in their last 12 top-flight fixtures - and they have not lost at Anfield for the same number of games. This time last year, Jurgen Klopp's side tore through Bournemouth's defence in a 9-0 mauling, which equalled the Premier League's largest margin of victory. Indeed, the Reds have won five of their six home league games against today's opponents.
