Jose Mourinho got off to the best possible start as Tottenham Hotspur manager as his new side beat West Ham United 3-2 at London Stadium on Saturday - their first Premier League away win in 10 months.

First-half goals from Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura and another after the break from Harry Kane – his 175th for the club - inflicted West Ham’s fifth league defeat in seven games and piled more pressure on manager Manuel Pellegrini whose side sit close to the drop zone.

Mourinho, however, will not be happy with the way Spurs conceded two late goals as substitute Michail Antonio and Angelo Ogbonna capitalised on familiar errors in a defence that has kept just one league clean sheet all season.

After Kane had an early effort ruled out for offside, Son put the visitors ahead on 36 minutes, sweeping by Papa Diop and firing past West Ham’s unconvincing keeper Roberto for his sixth goal in as many games.

Mourinho, returning to English football after 11 months, punched the air in celebration and his mood improved further before the break when an outrageous scooped pass from Dele Alli freed Son on the left.

The South Korean’s inviting cross was forced home at the back post by Moura, who was one of three changes on Mourinho’s first teamsheet.

Kane was completely unmarked to head home Tottenham’s third on 49 minutes and move third on Spurs’ list of all-time scorers, behind Jimmy Greaves (266) and Bobby Smith (208).

Declan Rice had a late effort disallowed for offside by VAR as West Ham rallied, although the result was never in doubt, Ogbonna netting their second deep into stoppage-time.

Teams

West Ham XI: Roberto; Fredericks, Ogbonna, Diop, Cresswell; Rice, Noble; Snodgrass, Anderson, Yarmolenko; Haller.

Spurs XI: Gazzaniga; Aurier, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Davies; Dier, Winks; Dele, Lucas, Son, Kane.

The teams line up in the tunnel. Mourinho looks to be in good spirits, he's full of smiles and handshakes. Harry Kane looks determined.

The players head out onto the pitch through a wall of bubbles.

Kick off is next...

West Ham 0 - 0 Tottenham

Kick off: Tottenham kick off the match and send the ball up to Kane but Cresswell holds him off and wins a throw in for West Ham.

Harry Kane has 20 goals in 21 games for club and country will he be Mourinho's star man today?

West Ham 0 - 0 Tottenham

3 mins: Son chases the ball to the touchline and keeps it in play. Fredericks comes across and blocks the cross into the box. Yarmolenko picks up the ball but loses it as Son comes in from behind to nick the ball off him.

Dele Alli picks the ball up in the pocket on the left and runs towards the box. Harry Kane makes a run into the area and Dele feeds him the ball. Kane latches onto it and finds the back of the net but the offside flag goes up and Jose Mourinho is denied a dream start.

West Ham 0 - 0 Tottenham

6 mins: Dele Alli looks like a new man. He's confident on the ball and is making good runs. He plays the ball into the box for Kane but Spurs' main man is offside once again.

West Ham 0 - 0 Tottenham

9 mins: Fredericks gets forward for West Ham and puts a great ball into the box. Haller jumps onto the cross and heads it towards goal. Aurier gets a slight touch as he challenges Haller and the sting goes out of the shot and Gazzaniga catches it safely.

West Ham 0 - 0 Tottenham

12 mins: Diop and Kane get into a tangle. Kane looks to pull Diop to the floor but the foul goes against the West Ham defender and he's shown a yellow card.

The free kick comes into the far post and Davinson Sanchez runs onto the ball. Roberto tries to catch the ball but fumbles it and Sanchez gets the final touch before it goes out of play.

The whistle goes as the offside flag is raised.

West Ham 0 - 0 Tottenham

15 mins: Felipe Anderson sends a ball out to the right wing for an overlapping Fredericks but the ball takes a poor bounce and Fredericks cannot keep it in.

Snodgrass takes out Winks on the halfway line and Spurs have another free kick.

Michael Jones23 November 2019 12:45

West Ham 0 - 0 Tottenham

18 mins: Declan Rice intercepts a pass from Dier and storms forward with the ball. He checks his run and passes the ball back to Yarmolenko who slots a ball into the box. Snodgrass makes the run but Aurier climbs over him and does enough to win a goal kick.

Michael Jones23 November 2019 12:48

West Ham 0 - 0 Tottenham

21 mins: Son works some space for himself after receiving the ball from Dele Alli. He shoots and Roberto palms the ball away. Spurs collect it and give it back to Son who has switched sides over to the right. He shoots again but a big deflection comes to Lucas Moura at the far post and he makes a complete mess of a headed shot.

Michael Jones23 November 2019 12:51

West Ham 0 - 0 Tottenham

24 mins: Harry Kane presses a ball that comes into the corner flag and shoves Fredericks over giving away a free kick. A touch of frustration from the Spurs striker perhaps?
