From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Manchester United are set to spend big this summer as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to overhaul his underperforming squad. Crystal Palace's Aaron Wan-Bissaka is top of his transfer wishlist with the two clubs haggling over a fee which could eventually top £50m. They won't be stopping there, however, with Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes another key target.

Elsewhere, the likes of Liverpool, Barcelona and Bayern Munich look set to be disappointed in the chase for Matthijs De Ligt with the Ajax captain appearing to be closing in on a move to Juventus.

Arsenal are meanwhile set to push on with their first signing of the summer with a bid for Bournemouth’s Ryan Fraser set to be lodged. Belgian international Yannick Carrasco is also an option being considered but money could be tight for Unai Emery and Co.

Champions Manchester City don't have any such problems and look set to strengthen an already stacked squad. Leicester City's Harry Maguire could arrive in a club record deal while Atletico Madrid's Rodri and Juve's Joao Cancelo appear near certainties to join him in what looks to be another busy summer at the Etihad.

Juventus have joined the race for Tottenham's Kieran Trippier.

Spurs are willing to sell the England international this summer with Atletico Madrid and Napoli understood to be interested.

But Juve are apparently keen too according to the Daily Telegraph with a deal there to be done around the £25m mark.

Paul Pogba has apparently told Manchester United he wants to move back to Juventus over a move to Real Madrid.

The 26-year-old on Sunday finally made his desire to leave Old Trafford clear, stating that it’s time for a “new challenge”, but many sources say he’s for a long time been “desperate to leave”.

Zinedine Zidane wants Pogba at any price, but the Bernabeu hierarchy are not keen to spend more than £110m after a summer that has already seen them break £350m.

Sky Sports say the midfielder wants to return to Juve, with Paris Saint-Germain also keen.

Manchester City appear to have won the race for Harry Maguire.

Manchester United are also keen on the England international but the Mirror reports the champions are closing in on his signature.

They say United were only willing to offer £40m for the centre-back while City were happy to meet Leicester's £65m asking price.

Maguire is also keen to work under manager Pep Guardiola which is said to have swayed the deal in City's favour further.

Real Madrid are planning on signing Kylian Mbappe next summer.

The Paris Saint-Germain star's future in the French capital is far from certain with the 14-time European champions long-time admirers.

They've already splashed £300m this summer alone so are apparently content to wait 12 months before making their move.

That's according to AS.

Manchester United have reportedly set their asking price for Romelu Lukaku.

The striker is Antonio Conte's top summer target after arriving at Inter Milan with the Mirror reporting that the Red Devils want £75m for the Belgian international.

Inter have some moving and shaking to do themselves with Conte apparently keen to see Mauro Icardi leave the club this offseason.

Manchester United have upped their interest in Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes and want him on board in time for pre-season.

The Portuguese international is set leave this summer after a record-breaking season in his homeland with some of Europe's top clubs lining up to sign him.

Tottenham, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain have all been credited with interest in recent weeks.

But Record report it's United who lead the race suggesting that the 24-year-old is "most likely" to end up at Old Trafford.

Arsenal transfer target Yannick Carrasco has criticised his Chinese Super League club Dalian Yifang for suspending him following his late return from international duty.

Carrasco, who has reiterated his desire to return to Europe having come close to a move in January, returned to Dalian late after Belgium’s 3-0 victory against Scotland last week and missed the club’s league game against Hebei China Fortune.

Carrasco was subsequently told to apologise to his teammates and ordered to stop training with the squad, while his teammate, Yu Ziqian, accused the Belgian of unprofessional behaviour and suggested he should leave Dalian.

However, Carrasco took to Twitter to insists that he is being treated unfairly and that he still wants to do his best for the team.

Paris Saint-Germain have told Barcelona that Neymar is not for sale at any price.

That's according to the Daily Mail.

The Brazilian international has been heavily linked with a move back to his former club after high profile criticism from owner Nasser El Khelaifi.

A swap deal involving Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele has been mooted but it appears he's staying put.

Chelsea are yet to make a decision over the future of Kurt Zouma.

Everton are keen for a permanent reunion with the French central defender after he impressed on loan at Goodison Park last season.

But the Blues are waiting until they have a new manager in place before deciding on what happens with Zouma, according to the Daily Star.

Arsenal have apparently had an offer for Kieran Tierney turned down by Celtic.

The Gunners are said to be interested in adding the Scotland international as Unai Emery looks to reshape his squad this summer.

But The Sun report an opening offer of £15m has been rebuffed.
