From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Manchester United are set to be busy this summer and appear to be closing in on their second signing of the off-season. Crystal Palace's Aaron Wan-Bissaka appears close to a move after a breakthrough was finally reached between the two clubs that will see the England Under-21 international move to Old Trafford for upwards of £42m plus add ons. Sporting's Bruno Fernandes could well be close behind with the Red Devils now the favourites to sign him too.

It won't just be incomings, however, with Paul Pogba anxious to leave with Real Madrid, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain circling. Romelu Lukaku is all set to leave for Italy too while the club are desperate to get Alexis Sanchez's £500,000 per week off the books.

Meanhile, Arsenal are set to push on with their first signing of the summer with a deal for Celtic's Kieran Tierney close. Bournemouth's Ryan Fraser and Belgian international Yannick Carrasco are also options being considered but money could be tight for Unai Emery and Co.

Champions Manchester City don't have any such problems and look set to strengthen an already stacked squad. Leicester City's Harry Maguire could arrive in a club record deal while Atletico Madrid's Rodri and Juve's Joao Cancelo appear near certainties to join him in what looks to be another busy summer at the Etihad.

Liverpool have entered the race for talented Paris FC striker Silas Wamangituka, according to reports in Portugal.

19-year-old Wamangituka had a fine campaign for Paris last season, scoring 11 goals in 32 Ligue 2 matches as Paris finished in the playoffs, eventually crashing out on penalties to Lens.

He has been linked with Braga, Marseille and Barcelona, with reports earlier in the season that Liverpool sent scouts to watch him in action.

And now Jornal de Notícias claim Liverpool are ready to make an offer for the rising star.

Atletico Madrid are keen on signing Hector Bellerin from Arsenal this summer.

The Spanish side are in the middle of a significant rebuild with deals for Marcos Llorente and Joao Felix already on the cards.

The Daily Telegraph report that they want to add Bellerin and are willing to throw Spanish winger Vitolo in any deal.

It remains to be seen whether the Gunners would entertain any such offer for one of their star men.

A fresh development in Manchester United's pursuit of Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Club officials are meeting with Crystal Palace today in order to try and reach a breakthrough in negotiations.

Palace have been deeply unimpressed with United's offers so far due to their reliance on add-ons, as opposed to the Eagles' preference for a larger immediate payment.

Real Madrid’s Lucas Vazquez has emerged as a target to bolster Arsenal’s attack.

That's according to Mundo Deportivo

The Spanish giants are open to selling industrial winger as part over Zinedine Zidane’s summer overhaul having completed the signing of Eden Hazard.

Sammy Ameobi has joined Nottingham Forest on a one-year deal.

The former England and Nigeria youth international left Bolton at the end of last season.

The 27-year-old will now link up with Martin O'Neill for the new season.

Arsenal have been told they must pay £13.5m if they want to sign Christopher Nkunku this summer.

The Gunners were keen on the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder back in January before opting to sign Denis Suarez on loan from Barcelona.

Unai Emery is a fan of 21-year-old Nkunku with RB Leipzig also monitoring his situation according to Le’Equipe.

Juventus have joined the race for Tottenham's Kieran Trippier.

Spurs are willing to sell the England international this summer with Atletico Madrid and Napoli understood to be interested.

But Juve are apparently keen too according to the Daily Telegraph with a deal there to be done around the £25m mark.

While there is a lot of talk of Aaron Wan Bissaka leaving Crystal Palace, there is another star player that could be leaving Selhurst Park too.

Wilfried Zaha has been a long-term Arsenal transfer target and the Gunners are once again taking a close look at the Palace winger.

It is however very unlikely that a deal can be reached. Zaha told Crystal Palace he wants to leave to play Champions League football and Arsenal failing to beat Chelsea in the Europa League final means they won't be able to offer that. Arsenal will not be able to offer too much up front to Palace either, with a deal for Kieran Tierney taking up some of the already shallow transfer budget.

James Rodriguez says he has little control over his next club and that his future is in the hands of Real Madrid.

The Colombian midfielder returned from a two-year loan spell at Bayern Munich but is unwanted by the Spanish giants.

“Right now I am thinking about the Copa America and I don’t know where I’ll be going,” he said after Colombia’s 1-0 victory over Paraguay.

“The decision depends on the club.

“I think there are some people inside the club who decide a lot and I can’t do anything.”
