The announcement had been long expected by fans of the Blues, who quickly took to social media to express their joy in welcoming the 21-year-old Germany international. Havertz is the final key transfer for Chelsea in a hugely successful window in which they also acquired Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva and Malang Sarr.
Soon after, Arsenal confirmed that Spanish midfielder Dani Ceballos had agreed to re-join the north London club on a season-long loan, though the Gunners are still hoping to secure the services of Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid if possible.
Fellow Premier League sides will now push on in their attempts to level the playing field, with Liverpool hoping to make progress in their move for Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara, while rivals Everton announced the signing of Allan from Napoli.
